Brandenburg Busted in Huge Pot Before Break

Level 17

Big O

A massive pot just developed that drew a crowd from nearby tables and saw Michael Romanos vault his stack into contention for the current chip lead.

Romanos limped in middle position and was raised to 85,000 by Shawn Carter in the cutoff. Joe Brandenburg then called on the button, as did Romanos to build an already sizeable pot.

On the {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} flop, Romanos bet 25,000 and was raised to 100,000 by Carter. Brandenburg then went all in for slightly more. Romanos then raised enough to cover both opponents, and Carter also called for approximately 120,000 total.

Joe Brandenburg: {a-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}
Shawn Carter: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}
Michael Romanos: {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{3-Spades}

Romanos had the best hand at the moment with a set of tens, but was against Carter's nut flush draw and a five deuce low draw, while Brandenburg had bottom set with a five-four low draw.

The turn brought the {5-Diamonds} and the river the {7-Spades}, as Romanos' set of tens held for high, and Carter's live deuce gave him the low, while Brandenburg was the unfortunate victim to be eliminated in the huge pot just before break.
