Five-Time WSOP Champion Cunningham Smashes Queen on the Turn to Survive

Level 23 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Allen Cunningham
Allen Cunningham

In a heads-up pot, the flop read {j-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades} and with about 225,000 in the middle, the five-time World Series of Poker gold bracelet winner was faced with a bet of 60,000 from Ariel Albilia before putting in the check-raise to 180,000.

Albilia took a few seconds before announcing all in and Cunningham snap-called his stack of 380,000.

Allen Cunningham: {q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Ariel Albilia: {k-Clubs}{j-Spades}

Cunningham flopped a pair but was in trouble against Albilia's top pair. However, the {q-Spades} turn gave him the lead with two pair and the {9-Spades} river meant he was able to stay at the table to continue the battle for his sixth bracelet.
