Day 1 of Event #84: $3,000 H.O.R.S.E. at the 2022 World Series of Poker at Bally's and Paris Las Vegas has come to a close. The tournament saw 328 entrants as a star-studded field of players took their seats to show off their mixed-game prowess.

After 11 hours of play, Andre Akkari finished the day atop the leaderboard with 262,100. Akkari already has a second-place finish this summer in Event 52: $2,500 Nine-Game Mix Six-Handed. He has positioned himself for another deep run after today's showing.

Somewhat distantly behind him on the leaderboard sit Paresh Doshi (167,600), Jeff Taylor (168,100), Mauricio Ferreira Pais (152,700), and Michael Gagliano (142,000), among others.

Plenty of big names also bagged up after Day 1, many of whom hopped over from Event #83: 50,000 High Roller No-Limit Hold'em. Daniel Negreanu (72,900), Mike Matusow (44,900), Todd Brunson (102,400), John Racener (62,200), and Eli Elezra (53,300) all found bags. Elezra and Negreanu were on the final table of this event last year and look to repeat that run and more.

Phil Hellmuth entered the mix as a late registrant and was coasting around starting stack for most of the day. Toward the night's end, he saw his chips slowly dip lower than he would have liked. On one of the last hands of the night, though, he secured a near triple up to bag 69,800.

Opponent: {x-}{x-}/{3-Clubs}{6-Spades}{a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}/{x-} - folded seventh

Action started on fourth street with David Benyamine betting his queen-eight showing and getting called by the two low cards of his opponent.

On fifth, Benyamine's opponent picked up an ace and bet, and Benyamine called.

An eight landed on Benyamine's opponent's board, putting four-to-a-low on his board, and he bet again. Benyamine stuck around with a call to head to a face-down final street.

After receiving their last card, Benyamine's opponent checked, to which Benyamine decided to take the lead and bet. His opponent thought for a bit and flipped his hand over to fold.

Benyamine showed his neighbor his cards, which consisted of at least a queen and a ten, but both Benyamine and his neighbor said, "Full house."

Opponent: {x-}{x-}/{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}/{x-} - folded seventh

Action picked up on sixth street in a last-level, three-way pot.

Greg Dyer bet into his two opponent, both of them made the call to head to a face-down seventh.

Once received, David "ODB" Baker led out with a bet. Dyer didn't think too long before calling, the third player got out of the way.

"Two pair," announced Baker.

"Me too," said Dyer.

Baker rolled over his nines and threes, knowing that meant Dyer had him beat.

Dyer had the queens and jacks. Both were drawing at a flush and ended up with two pair.
