Event #70: $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event World Championship
Day 1a Started
The 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) continues today and the most famous poker tournament in the world will soon commence at 11 a.m. local time.
The preeminent $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event World Championship will see both amateurs and pros battle it out on the felt in an attempt to ultimately become the last player with chips, earning the glory and title of WSOP Main Event Champion.
Last year, German pro Koray Aldemir defeated American amateur George Holmes in heads-up play to win $8,000,000 and the prized bracelet in a field of 6,650 players. Attendance has been impressive at the WSOP this summer and many have predicted an unprecedented Main Event turnout, yet only time will tell if the 2006 record of 8,773 players will be broken.
Each player today will start with 60,000 in tournament chips and each Day 1 will play five 120-minute levels. There will be a 20-minute break after Levels 1, 2, and 4, with a 75-minute dinner break after Level 3.

Players who bag today in Day 1a will return on Thursday, July 7, and combine with players who bag on Day 1b tomorrow, for Day 2 a+b. (View the complete structure sheet here.)

Action was picked up with 1,100 in the pot and a flop of on the felt. The small blind opened for 400. The hijack called before Anthony Hall, the button, raised to 1,200. Both opponents called.
On the turn, Hall led out for 2,000. The small blind thought for a moment before putting in the call, while the hijack snap-folded.
Hall fired another 2,000 on the river and got called. Hall turned over for top two pair. His opponent promptly tossed his hand in the muck, giving the pot to Hall.
