Panchumarthi Takes One Down

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

The heads-up action was picked up with 12,000 in the pot and a board of {3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{4-Hearts}{9-Hearts}.

The late position player led out to the tune of 6,000. Sridhar Panchumarthi, in middle position, thought for a minute or so before moving all in for around 29,000, just under the total stack of his opponent. This sent the opponent into the tank for several minutes.

"If I fold will you show me?" he asked, but received no response. "Gotta be a set, right?" he thought out loud.

After some time in the tank, the opponent made the laydown.

"I'll give you a dollar," he offered, gesturing to Panchumarthi's cards, still trying to see what his hole cards were. Panchumarthi silently declined the offer, pushing his cards towards the dealer and into the muck.

Sheinin Lays it Down Against Davis

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

Ian Davis three-bet to 2,400 from the cutoff over a preflop raise by David Sheinin, and Sheinin called to see the {3-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop.

Sheinin checked and Davis put out another 2,500. Sheinin called once more as the {6-Hearts} fell on the turn.

Davis bet again and Sheinin quickly folded.

"You have a big pair and I don't. I almost folded the flop," Sheinin said as he flashed {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}.

Break Time

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Andreas Kniep
Andreas Kniep

Players have been sent on their first 20-minute break of the day. They will return to blinds of 200/300 with a 300 big blind ante.

Though the field started the day 300 big blinds deep, that did not prevent high-level action from taking place, with early eliminations and big hands. Of note is the fact that Andreas Kniep has already managed to run up a big stack in his bid to make two consecutive deep runs in the WSOP Main Event. Find below highlights from the first two hours of play.

Martinet Gets Paid on Big River Overbet

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

On the last hand before break, a player in late position limped before the hijack made it 1,000. Johan Martinet made it 4,200 from the button and the hijack called.

The flop came {2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades} and both players checked. The turn brought the {6-Diamonds} and Martinet made it 3,500. The hijack called.

On the {9-Clubs} river, Martinet fired his green chip worth 25,000 into the pot. He was snap-called.

Martinet turned over {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}, beating his opponent's {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds} and raking in a big early pot.

Foxen's River Three-Bet Takes it Down

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Alex Foxen
Alex Foxen

Alex Foxen opened from middle position for 500. The hijack put in a reraise to 1,400. Action folded back around to Foxen, who made the call.

Foxen check called a bet of 1,600 on the {a-Hearts}{7-Spades}{8-Spades} flop. On the {8-Hearts} turn, Foxen opted to lead out for 1,700, getting a call from his opponent.

Foxen sized down a bit, firing 1,000 on the {3-Diamonds} river. His opponent put in a raise to 4,200. After a minute or so of thought, Foxen put in a three bet to 17,400, well over the size of the pot. His opponent folded, giving the pot to the bracelet winner.

Mazer Makes a Set

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Jordan Mazer raised to 600 from middle position. On his left, Yolanda Jones raised to 1,200. Kunal Jones made the call on the button, the big blind called, and Mazer called as well to go to a four-way flop.

The dealer put out the {4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. The big blind checked, Mazer led out for 2,300. Jones got out of the way, but Patni raised it up to 9,200.

Action folded to Mazer. "I guess I'm all in," and he put out his 21,000. Patni made the call.

Jordan Mazer: {4-Spades}{4-Clubs}
Kunal Patni: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

Mazer flopped bottom set and needed to avoid a seven or an eight. The turn was the {3-Hearts} and the river was the {10-Clubs} to secure the full double for Mazer.

"Just like that, he's back!" said Mazer.

Better Boat For Kanit

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Mustapha Kanit
Mustapha Kanit

Three nines were hitching a ride on a board that read {9-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{9-Hearts} with a pot of about 7,500 stewing in the middle.

Action was on Mustapha Kanit in middle position who thought for some time before over-betting the pot to 8,500. Bill Ingram was on the button and said "Well I'm not gonna fold a full house" and tossed in the chips.

Kanit showed the {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts} which beat Ingram's full house of {7-}{6-}.

"Good hit," said Ingram as Kanit gathered the chips.

Small One for Katz

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

The button raised to 500 and only Cary Katz came along from the small blind.

Katz check-called 500 on the {q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{a-Spades} flop to see the {k-Clubs} turn.

The action checked through to the {10-Clubs} river and Katz took his time before checking.

The button checked back and Katz showed {q-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for queens and tens to win.
