Farber Makes the Nuts, Takes One Out, Medeiros Makes Huge Fold

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
Sidney Farber
Sidney Farber

A large pot was brewing and two players were already all in in a pot worth about 90,000.

The complete board showed {q-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}. The player in middle position had moved all in for his 31,300. Sidney Farber had snap-jammed all in for 38,000 himself.

David Medeiros sat in the big blind with a big decision. Two players had moved all in and he was at risk with about 27,000 in his stack. After thinking for about three minutes, he called the clock on himself.

Before the floor could get too far into the countdown, Medeiros folded, showing the {j-Spades}{10-Spades} for the flush.

The middle position player tabled {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}, but Farber had {a-Spades}{6-Spades} for the best flush.

Farber stacked up huge, Medeiros made the tough fold to live and fight for another pot.

Johnson Battles With Legend Smith

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
John Smith
John Smith

There were three players in on the {10-Hearts}{k-Spades}{5-Hearts}{a-Hearts} turn when the action checked to the legendary heads-up player John Smith. He fired out 10,000 and only Sam Johnson from Australia called.

The river brought the {9-Clubs} and Smith fired off 28,000 more. Johnson took his time and called.

Smith tabled {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for aces and tens, but Johnson flipped over {7-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for the flush.

The next hand pitted Smith and Johnson again. It was a limped pot three ways and the action checked to the {k-Spades}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} turn. There was a bet from the third player and Smith called.

Johnson raised it up to 5,500 and Smith shoved for about 25,000. Johnson called with the bigger stack.

John Smith: {k-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Sam Johnson: {k-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

Johnson was freerolling Smith with the flush draw, but the river fell the {9-Clubs} and they chopped it up.

Smith busted a few short minutes later but he is known for his spectacular performances in the $10,000 Heads-Up Championship that is played each year. He finished second in both 2016 and 2017 for more than $400,000. Smith is considered one of the old-school legends of the game. Though this year his Main Event run came to an early end.

Colillas Cracks Aces to Bust Monroig

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
Ramon Colullas
Ramon Colullas

The cutoff opened to 1,200 before Ramon Colillas made it 3,500 on the button. Michael Monroig then moved all in for around 10,000 in the small blind. The cutoff mucked and Colillas hesitantly called.

Michael Monroig: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}
Ramon Colillas: {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

Monroig immediately stood up and said "Oh boy," as the hands were exposed. The {j-Spades}{10-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop gave Colillas an open-ended straight draw which immediately came on the {8-Spades} turn. The {10-Diamonds} river completed the board and Monroig left the table in disgust as Colillas dragged in the last of his chips.

It's been quite the spin-up for the PokerStars Ambassador as he had just 19,000 chips at one stage on Day 1d.

Hendrix Eliminated by Zukowicz Pocket Aces

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante
Adam Hendrix
Adam Hendrix

With about 10,000 in the middle, the flop read {9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades} and Adam Hendrix checked to Monika Zukowicz who took about ten seconds before putting out a bet of 3,500. Hendrix called.

The {4-Hearts} hit the turn and Hendrix check-called another bet of 8,000.

When the {3-Diamonds} hit the river, Hendrix checked once more before Zukowicz pushed her entire stack of 62,000 across the line. Hendrix went deep into the tank, breaking down his stack of 19,700.

"I really want to believe you. It feels like ace-four more than aces," Hendrix said aloud as he was contemplating his decision.

Eventually Hendrix dropped some chips across the line to make the call and Zukowicz tabled {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} for aces up. Hendrix quickly showed {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} before tossing his cards face down into the muck and grabbing his bag to exit the tournament area.
