Benglis Slow Plays Queens

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Action started when Brennan Benglis opened from the hijack to 6,000. Next to act in the cutoff was Gaelle Baumann who three-bet to 18,000. It folded back to Benglis who made the call.

The flop came {9-Spades}{8-Clubs}{3-Spades} and both players checked their option. On the {10-Spades} turn Benglis bet 13,000 which was called.

The {9-Clubs} completed the board and both players checked. Benglis tabled {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds} for an over pair and a surprised looking Baumann mucked her hand, awarding the pot to Benglis.

Quads Over Quads in the Main Event

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Claus Marcussen opened from early position and found one caller from late position, Jay S.

The board showed up {8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}. Marcussen continued with a bet and S put in the call in position.

When the {k-Hearts} turn hit, Marcussen checked. S took the lead with a bet and Marcussen called.

The river fell the {7-Diamonds}. Marcussen chose to lead the river. S moved all in over his bet and Marcussen committed his stack with no fear.

Claus Marcussen: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Jay S: {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}

In what would often pay a bad beat in a cash game, S's quads cost him a large portion of his stack while Marcussen benefited with the big double.

Did "Woody" Just Win the Main Event on Day 2?

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Brian Wood
Brian Wood

"HOLD! HOLD! No King!" could be heard shouted across the bally's ballroom near the main stage. Brian "Woody" Wood was all in for his tournament life with {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} against the {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} of Benjamin "Spraggy" Spragg. Despite picking up a flush draw on the turn, Spragg bricked out and Wood scored a double up.

"Yeah, baby! Woohoo! Yeehaw!" Wood continued as he ran around the ballroom in celebration of his double-up. The loud outburst seemed to come out of nowhere and a large crowd gathered to see what the commotion was all about.

Was it a big pot? What happened? That's his chip stack? Those were just some of the questions being asked. It was a reaction made for winning $10,000,000 and the Main Event but Wood doubled up for a measly 15,000 chips, leaving him well below the average.

As the TV crews gathered around, the charade continued with Wood being the centerpiece. "I asked Chris Moneymaker to go for dinner the other day but he said he didn't know me."

Just then, Moneymaker showed up at the table from overhearing his name. As the two players embraced, more screaming and loud noises came from Wood.

"What is going on over here?" Joey Ingram was the next person to scope out the situation, checking up on Spraggy.

"What's your name?" Wood asked as many players and media burst into laughter.

Decalo Chips Up

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

In preflop action, Niv Decalo raised to 5,000 from under the gun and received a call from Jared Hyman to his right along with both of the blinds. The flop came down {9-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and Decalo bet 5,000, which was raised to 14,000 by Hyman. Both of the blinds folded and Decalo called.

A {6-Hearts} showed up on the turn and Decalo check-called Hyman's 18,000 bet.

Both checked the {10-Clubs} on the river and showed their hands. Hyman flipped up {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds} which was no good against Decalo's pocket pair {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} that took down the pot.

Auer Takes a Pot

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

The action was picked up on the river with a board showing {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{10-Spades}. Matthias Auer bet 35,000 into a pot of 27,000 and his opponent went well in the tank.

The early position player eventually folded and the chips were sent to Auer.

"Show it, show it! It's good for the game", said one tablemate. Auer gave a smirk but slid his cards facedown, not giving anything away.

His opponent would later tell the table he folded {a-}{j-} and Auer confirmed that it was a good fold.

Bryn Kenney
Bryn Kenney

The flop came out {6-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{10-Spades}. Both blinds checked to the opener who continued for 5,500. The small blind called, Bryn Kenney called behind in the big blind.
