Hobbs Continues to Trend South

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

James Hobbs opened to 250,000 in middle position and William Nunley re-raised to 800,000 on the button. The blinds folded and Hobbs called to see a flop of {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}.

Hobbs checked to Nunley who continued with a bet of 450,000 and Hobbs check-raised to 1,500,000. Nunley called and the {10-Spades} paired the board on the turn.

Both players checked and the {8-Clubs} landed on the river. Hobbs checked again and Nunley admittedly made a nitty check back.

"I feel silly for checking this hand," Nunley announced as he turned over {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}. Hobbs nodded in concession and Nunley dragged in the pot.

Kudo's For Blazevich's Stack

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Cameron Blazevich had defended the big blind and then check-raised the {k-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop before he led the {q-Clubs} turn for what appeared to be 510,000. Initial preflop raiser Mikiya Kudo pushed all-in for the 975,000 he had behind and Blazevich called.

Mikiya Kudo: {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Cameron Blazevich: {k-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

The {6-Clubs} on the river was a blank, sending Kudo to the payout desk.

Welch Keeps Firing Against the Champ

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Action folded to Robert Welch in the small blind who raised to 360,000 as Damian Salas called in the big blind.

The flop came {q-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and Welch continued for 250,000. Salas called to see the {3-Clubs} on the turn.

Welch bet another 550,000 and Salas once again called. On the {j-Diamonds} river, Welch upped his bet to 1,400,000 and sent the 2020 Main Event champ into the tank for about a minute before Salas gave up his hand.

Jeckeln Raises Liu

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Shijia Liu opened to 250,000 on the button and was called by Andres Jeckeln out of the big blind.

Jeckeln checked to the preflop raiser on the {2-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{q-Spades} flop and Liu continued for 275,000. After some time, Jeckeln counted out a raise to 795,000 and Liu, without much hesitation, folded to send a small pot Jeckeln's direction.

Li Scores Double Knockout

Level 27 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

On the final hand before break, Pierce Mckellar opened to 200,000 under the gun and Fabian Schaefer Carreno moved all in on the button for 2,515,000. Victor Li then moved all in from the big blind, and Mckellar thought about his decision with a fairly similar stack to Carreno.

"Gamble!" exclaimed Mckellar as he put in the chips.

Fabian Schaefer Carreno: {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Pierce Mckellar: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Victor Li: {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}

The dealer spread the {10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop to put Li way in front with top set. The {8-Spades} fell on the turn to leave Carreno calling for a nine, but the {k-Spades} completed the board, eliminating both Mckellar and Carreno.

Welch Gets There on the River Against Setna

Level 27 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Jimmy Setna bet 350,000 in the cutoff on a flop of {9-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{9-Spades} before Robert Welch came back with a raise to 1,150,000.

Setna called and both players checked the {7-Hearts} on the turn. The river came the {k-Spades} and Welch put out another 850,000.

Setna went into the tank for a few minutes, muttering to himself the possibilities of Welch's holdings before he flicked in a chip to signify a call.

Welch turned over {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts} for the rivered two pair and Setna mucked.
