Yang Applies Pressure to Take Down Pot
Jerry Yang, the 2007 WSOP Main Event champion, showed his tablemates at the Horseshoe that he will make squeeze plays.
Action folded to a player in the hijack position, and he raised 3,300 before the flop, drawing a call from the player in the cutoff. The button folded, bringing action to Yang, who was in the small blind.
Yang peeked down at his cards, slowly placed a 5,000 chip on his cards, and then three-bet to 10,000. The big blind quickly got out of the way, and the other two players called.
The flop saw 7♠A♣4♦ on the board. Yang briefly paused before betting 30,000, resulting in both opponents folding their hands to Yang’s aggressive pot-sized continuation bet out of position.
Yang then tabled 9♦5♦ as the dealer pushed the 33,200 pot to his seat at table 601, which coincidentally is almost directly underneath his photo hanging on the way commemorating his 2007 Main Event win.
