Schroeder Extracts Maximum Value

Level 24 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Gabriel Schroeder raised from the button to 80,000 only to be met by the three-bet of Guidez in the big blind who bumped it up to 190,000. Schroeder called and both players saw three cards.

574 was enough for Guidez to continue for 205,000. Schroeder was undetered.

The Q checked through to the 4. Again, Guidez checked to Schroeder who bombed the river for 615,000.

Some time passed before Guidez flicked in a singular green chip for the call only to be shown the A4 of Schroeder. Guidez mucked.

Fireworks on the River for Kohlberg and Ashdown

Level 24 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

After Harrison Ashdown called Curt Kohlberg's button raise from the big blind, the two players checked a flop of 677 and a K turn.

But when Ashdown led out for 100,000 on a J river, Kohlberg raised it to 300,000. Ashdown called, Kohlberg revealed KQ for a turned pair of kings, and Ashdown sent his cards into the muck disgruntledly.

The Two Failed Bluffs in One Week that Cost Doug Polk $700k

Level 23 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Doug Polk
Doug Polk

Chris Moneymaker had the Bluff of the Century in 2003. This past week, Doug Polk had perhaps the Failed Bluff of the Century.

On Sunday, heads-up for a bracelet, Polk bluffed off a significant portion of his stack at the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) less than one week after his infamous bluff attempt that didn't get through on Hustler Casino Live's $1 million game.

In both instances, the Upswing Poker founder had a busted draw and attempted to use aggression to coerce his opponents into folding somewhat marginal holdings in massive pots. Both times, however, his efforts were unsuccessful and quite costly.

Hanan Tabrichi, Jason Johnson, and Upeshka De Silva got tangled up in a three-way all in preflop.

Tabrichi: A9
Johnson: JJ
De Silva: AK

Tabrichi caught the most of the 786 flop, but locked the hand up on a K turn. The 2 river just made it official. De Silva had Tabrichi covered, and so won a side pot for his efforts with the pair of kings.
