Three Pocket Pairs Battle

Level 12 : Blinds 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante

Sayoko Matsumoto bet 15,000 on a flop of 455 from the small blind. Emil Block called from the big blind. The player in the cutoff then reraised all in for 44,000. Both Matsumoto and Block called.

The 2 turn and 9 river brought only checks from the two players with chips remaining. The cutoff showed JJ and Block turned over 1010. Matsumoto then revealed AA to take down the huge pot, eliminating her opponent in the cutoff.

Lipton Triple Barrels

Level 12 : Blinds 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante

There was a middle position open to 7,000 and action folded to Michael Lipton in the small blind who three bet to 20,000. The original raiser flat called and they went to a flop.

The Ax2x5x flop hit the felt and Lipton lead right out for 15,000. Lipton's opponent smooth called again.

The 6x hit the turn and Lipton again lead out for 25,000. Once again the opponent just smooth called.

The river was 9x and Lipton did not waste any time before jamming all in. His opponent didn't need to think long before putting in the chips for his tournament life.

Michael Lipton: Ax6x for a turned two pair.
The opponent: AxQx for top pair.

Lipton made a kind gesture to say good game and extend a fist bump to the player that was knocked out. This didn't go as planned as the player smacked Lipton's hand out of the way before storming off to likely find a registration line. Lipton, on the other hand, was all smiles as he dragged a big pot late in day one.

Thomson Acquires Max Value, With Ace-High?

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Before the break, the completed board read 28722 when Megan Thomson bet 15,000 into the pot of around 30,000.

The action was then on her opponent, Daniel Zack, who thought for a few seconds before making the call.

Thomson then flipped over AJ for ace-high, but evidently, it was good as Zack quickly mucked his hand to award her the pot.
