2023 World Series of Poker
On a board reading 3♣4♠2♠5♦6♠, Venkata Muramalla was facing a bet from Suk Bang for the remainder of his chips. Muramalla spent quite a bit of time mulling over his decision and eventually did call.
Suk Bang was first to show and revealed the nut flush in the form of A♠8♠9♣2♦. A frustrated Muramalla flashed 7♠3♠8x6x for what was the nut straight, rivered flush.
Muramalla was sent to pay outs and Bang continued to extend their chip lead.
Dan Matsuzuki opened to 24,000 from early position and found calls from [Removed:499] in the small blind and Orson Young in the big blind.
All three players checked the 4♥5♥3♣ flop and the 9♥ turn, before Slobodskoy fired 22,000 on the Q♠ river. Young folded, while Matsuzuki announced a raise to 80,000.
Slobodskoy took some time before making the fold, as Matsuzuki added to his stack.
Level: 19
Blinds: 6,000/12,000
Ante: 12,000
Josh Arieh slid almost all of his short stack into the middle after the 2♥5♠8♣ flop, leaving 5,000 behind. Filippos Stavrakis took some time before calling the bet, after which the remaining chips were tossed into the middle ahead of the turn card.
Josh Arieh: Q♠J♦10♦8♥
Filippos Stavrakis: A♥A♦10♥7♦
Arieh's pair of eights needed help, but the 2♦ turn gave Stavrakis two pair to end it. The 7♣ river completed the board, as Arieh made his way to the payout desk.
Cards were on their backs and Daniel Negreanu had his camera out, sweating both his opponents' cards and how they affected his outs.
Daniel Negreanu: K♠Q♠Q♦2♦
Will Berry: A♣9♦6♦8♣
Nicolas Gola: K♥Q♥2♦2♣
Gola was the only one with a hefty stack and put both his opponents at risk. The flop ran out K♦6♣J♥ putting Gola and Negreanu ahead with the same made hand. The A♥ on the turn was a dagger to both of them as Berry now took the lead. An inconsequential 7♠ fell on the river.
Berry found a triple up and Negreanu was left chopping a measly pot with Gola; this left Negreanu with only 16,000 chips. He did fold a few hands before getting it in three ways shortly after but to no avail.
Negreanu was in a hurry to get his pay out, as he intends on registering the $10,000 Limit Hold'em event that's going on today. This is a variant he has years of experience in and, as always, we'll have to keep an eye on him to catch his next deep run.
Lok Chan bet 67,000 on a board showing 6♦10♠5♦5♥ and quickly faced a raise by Gheorghe Butuc for the remainder of his stack. Chan made the call and the hands were turned up.
Lok Chan: A♠8♦7♥6♥
Gheorghe Butuc: A♦K♠Q♣Q♦
Butuc's queens were in the lead, while Chan bricked the 7♣ river to end his tournament run.
Lawrence Brandt raised it to 25,000 when it folded to him on the button. Only Fernando Habegger in the big blind made the call.
The flop came out 9♠J♣2♦ and both players checked. The turn brought the A♥ and Habegger checked. Brandt then bet 35,000, which was called.
The river brought in the Q♦ and Habegger took some time before cutting out a bet of 130,000. Brandt tossed his hand in the muck and Habegger scoop a pot, moving up in the counts.
Dylan Weisman raised to 28,000 from early position, finding calls from Michael Dentale in the cutoff and Jay Kerbel in the big blind.
Kerbel checked the K♠6♣3♠ flop, with Weisman continuing for 25,000. Dentale then raised the pot to 174,000, producing a quick fold from Kerbel.
Weisman took some time before mucking his hand, as Dentale took down an early pot.
