Day 3 Started

Burke Leads; Several Bracelet Winners in The Hunt of Event #24: $1,500 Razz

William Burke
William Burke

Welcome to the third and final day of Event #24: $1,500 Razz here at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. William Burke will enter as the leader of the 15 returning players after amassing 2,450,000 in chips over the past 25 levels of play. The Canadian player went deep in the same event in last year’s WSOP, but ultimately busted in 11th place for a $6,619 score. This time around, Burke is in a great position to not only surpass his previous placement but make a serious run at winning the gold bracelet and the top prize of $152,991, coming from the $742,260 prize pool.

Burke’s journey will not be easy, however, as several seasoned and accomplished players will be looking to do just the same. Among them are bracelet winners Justin Liberto (1,870,000), Jeff Lisandro (995,000), Marco Johnson (695,000), and David “ODB” Baker (490,000). Everett Carlton (1,755,000) will also be in the hunt. Carlton will enter third in chips and has nearly one million in tournament earnings from the WSOP alone dating back to 2005.

Also in the fray is veteran poker reporter and Razz enthusiast Mickey Doft (585,000). Doft has already surpassed his previous best cash from the same event back in 2015 (45th - $2,738) and will be looking to secure his best overall live score to date.

William Burke: 10x9xAx/3x8x3x5x

Coming in as the shortest stack on Day 3, Miller had to find a spot to try to double up. That spot came on the fourth hand of the day, with a wheel draw on fifth street. But Miller paired a four and got a king and a queen on the end to bust the wheel draw, while Burke put together a nine-eight for the knockout.

"I usually only play the smaller events," said Miller. "But I made a deep run in badugi (35th for $4,018) this year. I might have to play some of these bigger ones now,"

With the knockout, Burke increased his early chip lead.
