Mermelstein Building Stack

Level 18

Aaron Mermelstein opened from middle position only to see Tomomitsu Ono three-bet from the cutoff. The blinds got out of the way to send the action back to Mermelstein who four-bet and was called.

Mermelstein took one on the first draw while Ono chose to draw two after which Mermelstein check-called a bet from Ono.

The same drawing pattern was repeated on the second draw with Mermelstein now leading out and getting called.

On the final draw Mermelstein declined to draw, checking once Ono took one. Ono checked it back but mucked as Mermelstein showed down Jx8x6x5x4x to concede a sizable pot.

Action was picked up with betting just before the final draw in a hand between Maria Ho in the cutoff, Oscar Johansson in the big blind and Kelvin Kerber on the button.

Action checked over to Ho who bet, leaving herself one big bet behind which saw both of her opponents call. Johansson and Kerber drew one while Ho remained pat and action checked through.

Ho turned over 8x5x4x2xAx for an eight and it was good to get back some chips.

Wells' Dominance Continues

A player opened on the button and was called by Robert Wells in the big blind.

Both players took one card on the initial draw after which Wells check-raised his opponent. The button player made the call.

The second draw saw Wells stand pat while his opponent drew one. Wells then bet and was called.

On the final draw Wells declined to draw and then checked after his opponent took one. The button player tapped it back and Wells tabled 10742 for a winner to add more to his chiplead.

Action was picked up on the first draw in between a player in the small blind Aaron Mermelstein in the big blind and Nicholas Marsico on the button. Three bets went in prior to draw and each player drew one.

Mermelstein bet on the first round which saw Marsico raise, the small blind fold and Mermelstein raised which Marsico called.

The following two streets saw both players stand pat and Marsico only called both streets.

Mermelstein turned over 75432 for a wheel and Marsico shook his head as he showed 76432 for a number two, which was rendered second best against Mermelstein who raked in a sizable pot.

Joao Vieira opened from under the gun and was called by Scott Abrams in the big blind.

Abrams took two on the first draw while Vieira stood pat. Vieira then bet after Abrams checked and was called.

The same drawing pattern was repeated on the second draw with Abrams again calling after Vieira bet.

The final draw saw Abrams take one with Vieira declining to draw. Abrams then checked and raised after Vieira bet. Vieira quickly called and showed down 6543 with Abrams revealing he had attempted to pull off an audacious bluff.

Elsewhere, Marco Johnson was seen heading to the exits.

Campbell took two on the initial draw while Pupillo opted for one. Action then checked to Pupillo who bet and was called.

The second draw saw Campbell again take two but Pupillo declined to draw before betting again. As before, Campbell called.

On the final draw Campbell took one last card before folding after Pupillo stood pat and bet to take a small hit to his stack.

Kerber checked over to Henson who bet and Kerber called only to be shown 85432 for a perfect eight and Kerber mucked.

At another table, Kristan Lord was eliminated from the tournament.
