Like many of the high-stakes games throughout the series, there was a light-hearted air of the day as long time friends and foes mingled. Players including Ben Lamb, Nick Schulman, Chris Brewer, Ari Engel, Brian Rast, Jared Jaffee, Chino Rheem, Anthony Zinno, and Justin Young are just some of the pros who joined the field today.

Only Engel (420,000) progressed from those stellar names mentioned above. Other notable players still in the field include Christian Harder (1,225,000) Kristen Foxen (895,000), Alex Livingston (785,000), and Lawrence Brandt (420,000); the latter won two bracelets last year.

Big names that made it into the money but were unable to bag included Daniel Negreanu and Shaun Deeb, who both gained some points for the Player of the Year race. Jeremy Ausmus also made it into the money but busted to Negreanu during a PLO hand during the 18th level of the tournament.

The surviving players return to the action from 12:00 p.m. on June 2, with the plan to play down to the final table. As always, tune into PokerNews throughout this event and all the other bracelet-awarding tournaments of the 2023 WSOP.

Weisman Is Baffled On The River

Level 15 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Dylan Weisman
Dylan Weisman

No-Limit Hold'em

On a board reading 3Q410, Chris Brewer had checked in the big blind before Dylan Weisman placed a bet of 45,000, which Brewer called.

The J on the river completed the board and Brewer then placed a bet putting Weisman all-in for approximately 140,000. Weisman, whose only decision now was to either fold or call off the remainder of his chips.

Somehow, Weisman's entire thought process became auditory as the table quieted and he pattered off the various combos of hands that beat him, as well as the various likelihoods.

Weisman, stealing glances at Brewer, continued his even-keel barrage of logic, then exploring Brewer's potential bluffs - at this point tablemate Kristen Foxen began to visibly giggle and, finally, after apologizing to the table for the amount of time he'd taken, Weisman said, "I don't know how to play this game... I fold."

PokerNews hung around to hear the table's interchange after the hand and Weisman told Foxen that he'd folded Kings.

Negreanu showed the AJ45 to which one of the other players in the hand said, "I folded top two-pair!" Negreanu then responded with, "And it's a good fold! Seriously... what you're hoping for on the turn? I got a 2, a 7, a diamond, top-pair...". Indeed, there were a plethora of cards that could have improved Negreanu's hand on the turn or river.

Pot-Limit Omaha

In a three-way pot with 18,500 in the middle on a flop showing Q86, Daniel Negreanu checked from the big blind to a player under the gun who bet out 3,500. Both the middle position player and Negreanu made the call and the three saw the A turn.

Negreanu checked again and under the gun sized to 13,000, which again both of his opponents came along. The 9 completed the board and Negreanu announced all in for 28,000 total. The under the gun player quickly folded, and after a moment the middle position player mucked as well.

"Yeah I got one through," said Negreanu as he tabled JJK2 to show that he only had a pair of jacks but two key blockers to the straight.

"I doubled up with that pot, now I'm going to play like a nit," joked Negreanu as he stacked up his chips.
