PN Podcast: Daniel Negreanu Talks 2023 WSOP & Poker Hall of Fame

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

On the latest PokerNews Podcast episode, Chad Holloway and Jesse Fullen continue The Chad & Jesse Poker Show straight from the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP).

They are joined by none other than Daniel Negreanu, who took a break from his busy summer schedule to talk about a plethora of topics including what it’s been like running deep in the lower buy-in, big field events, interacting with fans, and how he feels about his performance thus far.

Negreanu also offers his thoughts on the Poker Hall of Fame, including who he thinks will get in and the changes he’d like to see moving forward. Finally, “Kid Poker” offers his prediction for the 2023 WSOP Main Event, which is also the first big topic discussed by the hosts.

Chad and Jesse then do a new "Calling the Clock" segment in which they offer quick two-minute dialogues for topics on “The Board.”

Daniel Negreanu opened to 1,100 from middle position to see the big blind defend and check the 954 flop.

Another big blind check followed the A river, where Negreanu fired 3,500 to take down the pot after the big blind mucked.

Tedeschi Gets a Near Double-Up

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

Paul Tedeschi opened for 1,300 from late position and was called by a player in the cutoff. The button then three-bet to 3,600, forcing the blinds out but getting calls from Tedeschi and the late-position player.

Action checked to the button on a flop of 968 and he continued for 12,000. Tedeschi made the call while the late position player, after some thought, got out of the way.

The J turn saw Tedeschi lead out, first attempting to move all in before being told the maximum he could bet was 36,100. That left Tedeschi with only a few chips behind but his opponent just called rather than getting it all in.

Tedeschi did move the remainder of his stack into the middle after the J river completed the board. Despite the small amount needed to make the call, the button player decided he could not be winning and mucked to hand Tedeschi a near double-up.

Livingston Survives with a Chop

Level 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

Alex Livingston opened from under the gun and was called by a player in early position as well as the button. Chris Vitch then raised the pot out of the small blind with Livingston responding by moving all in for his last 8,000. Both the early position player and the button got out of the way while Vitch quickly called to put his opponent at risk.

Alex Livingston: Q653
Chris Vitch: AJ72

It was a fairly even fight and even result after the board ran out 75K64 to give Livingston the high and Vitch the low.

Vitch Wants it All

Level 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

With the board showing KQ92, Christopher Vitch fired 3,300 into the middle. Alex Livingston tossed out a raise to 13,500 and the cutoff folded to his left.

Vitch asked for a count of Livingston's remaining stack before betting enough to put his opponent all in. Livingston quickly mucked his hand, giving Vitch the pot.
