Hellmuth Sends Yaroshevskyy Out

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Alexandre Reard opened to 45,000 from middle position and Igor Yaroshevskyy three-bet to 300,000 on the button, leaving himself not much more behind. Phil Hellmuth four-bet shvoed out of the big blind for 465,000, getting a quick fold from Reard.

At that point, thinking Yaroshevskyy had already called, Hellmuth exposed his hand for a brief moment. Yaroshevskyy appeared to have seen his opponent's cards, as he considered folding to leave himself short-stacked. Ultimately, he seemed to conclude that the pot odds were too good to pass up and called off for his tournament life.

Igor Yaroshevsky: AQ
Phil Hellmuth: KK

Hellmuth had found cowboys at an opportune moment to leave himself well-placed to scoop a large pot late in the night. Yaroshevksy was hoping to put a beat on the all-time WSOP bracelet leader but could not do so as the board ran out 67876 to keep Hellmuth ahead and send Yaroshevsky to the rail.

Andrew Kelsall
Andrew Kelsall

AJ Kelsall was in a three-way pot against Steve Zolotow and Phil Hellmuth on a board of 2745. Action checked to Kelsall, who bet 500,000 from the hijack. Zolotow called all in for his last 420,000 from the small blind and Hellmuth folded from the big blind.

Steve Zolotow: 22
AJ Kelsall: 86

The dealer brought the A on the river, keeping Kelsall best with his straight and eliminating Zolotow. Hellmuth shot up from his seat upon seeing the river and indicated he would have hit a flush.

With that pot, Kelsall is now over two million in chips.
