2023 World Series of Poker
Level: 8
Blinds: 500/1,000
Ante: 1,000
In a three-way pot, the flop was J♦2♥7♥ when the small blind and Yu Gong in the big blind checked to Joey Weissman who bet 1,500. The small blind called and Gong decided to raise to 4,500.
It was enough to win the pot right away as Weissman and the small blind folded.
Mike Johnson went all in from the cutoff, for 7,200. Ren Lin, on his immediate left, paused for a second before declaring, "No gamble, no future!" as he made the call.
Mike Johnson: J♦10♦
Ren Lin: A♣3♠
The board ran out 7♥3♥7♣ 8♦ 9♦, with Johnson winning with a runner-runner straight.
When the dealer asked for the 7,200, Lin exclaimed, "Seven point two? I thought it was seventeen!" But he was all smiles as he chastised himself for misreading the chips.
Boris Kolev raised to 1,700 and got called by the big blind.
The dealer showed a flop 2♦8♥J♠ and the big blind check-raised to 3,200 a bet worth 1,100 from Kolev. The latter took a minute and announced a raise and his opponent snap folded.
There were 8,000 in the middle on a flop of K♣4♦2♦ and the button bet 5,000. Roberto Damelian check-raised enough to put his opponent at risk for 23,000. The button toyed over their decision before making the call.
Button: K♥J♦
Roberto Damelian: K♠Q♣
Both players paired a king, but the Aussie had the better kicker. The board ran out 3♣A♣ and Damelian took in a huge pot and sent their opponent to the rail.
All the chips went in the middle preflop between Kathy Liebert in the small blind and another player who had the effective stack of 46,000.
Opponent: K♣10♣
Kathy Liebert: 5♥5♦
The board gave the winning hand to Liebert with 8♠6♠A♠Q♠2♦ and she took down the big pot while her opponent joined the rail.
Jason Wheeler opened to 1,800 and Gina Webster called, followed by the big blind.
The flop brought 9♥5♦3♦ and it checked to Webster who bet 2,800. Only the big blind stayed interested and called.
The turn 7♥ was checked through and a A♥ landed on the river. The big blind led out for 3,500 and Webster called. The big blind showed A♠K♥ but the pot was sent to Webster who held A♣7♣ for two pair.
Two players saw a flop of Q♣7♠10♠. Maria Konnikova bet 1,500 from the cutoff, and was called by a player in the under the gun seat.
The turn came a 9♣. The under-the-gun player checked, leading to Konnikova betting another 2,500, which was called again.
The river was a 4♥ and both players checked.
The under-the-gun player showed 4♠6♠ but Konnikova tabled A♥9♦ to take the pot.
