Tournament Report: $250 WSOP Daily Deepstack (June 1)

Georgios Skarparis, a 42-year-old professional poker player from Cyprus, claimed victory in the $250 WSOP Daily Deepstack event on June 1.

With over $300,000 in live earnings, this win marks his fourth recorded tournament triumph. Skarparis's most significant cash was $167,070, achieved in the 2022 Merit Poker Retro Series €3,300 Main Event.

The tournament drew 485 entries, generating a prize pool of $97,000. Skarparis emerged as the champion, securing the top prize of $17,193 and earning 747 points for the PNDC leaderboard, good enough to put him in the top ten.

Timothy Cox finished as the runner-up, earning $11,874 and 374 points, while Kevin Kim took third place with a payout of $8,354 and 336 points.

Wrap up your day with some thrilling poker action! The final Daily Deepstack of the day kicks off at 8 p.m. as a single-day showdown. With a $200 buy-in, you'll start with a 20,000 stack of chips.

For those who like to make a dramatic entrance, late registration is open until the start of Level 6 (approx 10:20 p.m.), and you can reenter as many times as you want until then. Each level lasts 20 minutes, with plenty of 15-minute breaks throughout the evening.

Blinds start at 100/100, and the big blind ante is in play right from the start. If this event runs long, the tournament director reserves the right to suspend play and resume the following day.

Raymond Chiu, a 42-year-old IT consultant, became the first two-time winner in the PokerNews Deepstack Challenge, solidifying his position among the top ten weekly players.

Each of these top players receives a $600 PokerNews Deepstack Championship ticket at the 2024 WSOP.

Chiu's first victory came in the same event on May 31. His latest triumph earned him $16,489, marking his largest payout to date. Combined with his previous winnings, Chiu's total earnings from these events soared to $30,198.

The $400 WSOP Daily Deepstack event on June 1 drew 229 participants, generating a prize pool of $75,570.

Michael Halprin finished in second place, earning $11,043 and 362 points, while Josue Barriosbanuelos took third place with $7,587 and 326 points.

This win brought his live earnings over the $200,000 mark and marked his 96th recorded tournament cash. This payout ranks as his fifth largest ever, with his top score of $34,723 coming from a Daily Deepstack at the WSOP's former host, The Rio, in 2014.

The $200 WSOP Daily Deepstack event on June 1 attracted 195 entries, generating a prize pool of $30,225. Jaehoon Baek finished in second place, taking home $4,496 and 323 points, while Connor Woodland secured third place with $3,029 and 291 points.

Raymond Chiu, a 42-year-old IT consultant, achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the first two-time winner in the PokerNews Deepstack Challenge. His consistent performance has secured him a place among the top ten weekly players, each receiving a $600 PokerNews Deepstack Championship ticket at the 2024 WSOP.

Chiu's impressive run began with a victory on Friday, May 31, in the $400 Daily Deepstack, which drew 177 entries and a prize pool of $58,410. He took home $13,709 for this win. The very next day, on June 1, he triumphed again in the same event, which attracted 229 participants and generated a prize pool of $75,570. This win earned him $16,489, marking his largest payout to date.

These back-to-back victories have boosted Chiu's total earnings from these events to $30,198. Not bad for a $800 investment.
