Sammartino's Rise Hits a Hurdle

Level 11 : Limits 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Day 2 entrant Dario Sammartino has been building a stack and was involved in a three-way pot just minutes ago.

Ryan Johnson raised from early position and Jake Schwartz made the call in the hijack. Sammartino came along in the cutoff to see the 592 flop.

A round of bets went into the middle to the A turn, where all three players checked. The dealer turned over the 3 river, producing another trio of checks from the players.

Johnson showed A652 for the low, while Schwartz tabled A1092 for a superior two pair to claim the high. Sammartino could only muck, but his starting stack has grown over the last level.

Deeb Busts Paz-Gutierrez

Level 11 : Limits 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Shaun Deeb
Shaun Deeb

Allan Le raised from early position to 8,000, which was called by Shaun Deeb on the button. Jose Paz-Gutierrez in the small blind then decided to go all in for his remaining 11,500 chips, which was called by Le and Deeb.

The flop came K4J. Le bet and was called by Deeb.

The turn brought the 9 when Le once again made a bet, however this time he was raised by Deeb. Le chose to lay his hand down and Deeb was heads up against the all-in player Paz-Gutierrez.

Jose Paz-Gutierrez: AA72
Shaun Deeb: AJJ5

Deeb was ahead with his set of jacks, but Paz-Gutierrez still had outs with his pair of aces and flush draw. He said "Maybe a club," before the river rolled out, however the 2 was no help to Paz-Gutierrez and he was eliminated from the tournament.

Deeb took the pot worth 46,500.
