A total of 41 players return to the World Series of Poker, Event #16: $5,000 No Limit Hold’em to play down to a final five today at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. Play resumes at 1 p.m. in the Horseshoe Events Center, and if yesterday's play is any indication, it is sure to be electrifying.

Leading the way is Shant Marashlian. You may remember Marashlian as the player who pulled the million-dollar bounty in last year’s $1,000 Mystery Millions bounty event. Fortune seems to smile on him as he currently sits with 2,785,000 in chips, about 20 big blinds ahead of second and third place stacks of the Frenchman Anthony Cierco and Mark Tarich from Florida.

Yesterday saw plenty of noteworthy moments, including a royal flush for Matthew Davis and the brutal bubble elimination of Martin Stausholm who flopped a flush and was sent packing when Alex Keating went runner-runner to river a full house.

Spades Dig Ved Into a Short Stack

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Adam Saven raised from the button to 50,000 and Kartik Ved three-bet to 140,000 out of the big blind. Saven called.

An all-spade flop of K83 was seen by both players, and Ved continued with a bet of 40,000. Saven made the call.

The 9 turn went check-check and a fifth spade, the 7, fell on the river. Ved bet 35,000 and Saved quickly called.

Ved flipped over AK but Saven had the winner holding 55 for a slightly bigger flush

Refaelowitz Sends Samual Packing

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Action heated up on the very first hand of Day 3, as WSOP bracelet winner Darius Samual moved all in under the gun for his remaining 475,000.

Unfortunately, Samual ran into fellow WSOP bracelet winner Moshe Refaelowitz, who three-bet all in to put Samual at risk. The cards were tabled after the rest of the table folded.

Darius Samual: AJ All in
Moshe Refaelowitz: AA

The dealer fanned 755 on the flop, prompting Samual to stand. The 2 hit the turn, and then Q on the river gave Refaelowtiz the win.

“Nice hand,” Samual said as he patted the table.

Hallaert Heads For an Early Shower

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Kenny Hallaert
Kenny Hallaert

Taylor Black opened the hijack to 50,000 and Kenny Hallaert three-bet to 180,000 out of the big blind. Black then shipped all in and Hallaert called off his stack of around 800,000.

Kenny Hallaert: AQ All in
Taylor Black: AK

Hallaert needed to find Lady Luck if he wanted to survive, but the board didn't offer any help as the runout of 5A5J2 kept Black's Big Slick in the lead throughout.
