The flop read A♣A♦6♦ and Johnson bet 5,000 which Chidwick called.

Both players checked the 3♣ turn to the A♠ river where Johnson bet 40,000 and Chidwick mucked his hand.

Johnson raked in the pot as the legend of the midwest sits with over a starting stack.

A modest pot of 17,000 was built in a three-way pot between James Chen, Joao Vieira, and a player in the big blind. Vieira checked from the small blind on the completed board of 10♥A♣A♦4♦3♣ before the big blind made a bet of 10,000 from the big blind.

Chen then raised to 21,000, which forced Vieira out of the pot. The big blind also mucked his cards as Chen chipped up further.

Action was picked up on the flop in a pot between Brandon Wilson in the big blind and James Chen in the cutoff.

The board read Q♦4♦K♣ and Wilson check-called a bet of 5,000 from Chen.

Both players checked the 8♣ turn to the Q♠ river where Wilson bet 5,000 and Chen quickly folded.

Here's a name you'd better start learning the rest of the summer — Darius Samual. That isn't a household name in poker yet, but it will be soon.

The poker player from England entered the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) with less than $100,000 in live tournament cashes, according to The Hendon Mob. Twelve days into the series, there's an argument to be made that he's one of a few "players to beat" regarding WSOP Player of the Year.

And, here's what's really crazy — Samual gambled half his poker bankroll in one event just to get to this point.

Toby Lewis raised to 5,000 from the hijack and was three-bet by the player in the cutoff to 15,500. Lewis put in the call and the players saw a flop of 5♣2♠9♣.

Lewis then check-called a bet of 12,500 before checking on the K♠ turn as well.

The big blind fired a bet of 32,000, after which Lewis shoved all in, covering the cutoff's stack of 60,500. The player in the cutoff, quickly released his cards, however, and the pot was shipped to Lewis.

The flop read 10♥3♠J♠ and with 48,500 in the center, Foxen checked over to Yankov who bet 21,000 and Foxen called.

On the turn 3♦, Foxen checked once more over to Yankov who moved all in for 73,000 effective and Foxen folded.

Konnikova Fires Big Bets

Maria Konnikova raised her button to 6,500 and was called by Espen Jorstad and Nikolai Mamut in the blinds. Konnikova then continued for 16,000 on the A♥2♦K♣ flop, which Jorstad check-called and Mamut check-folded.

On the subsequent 8♣ turn, Jorstad checked once again before Konnikova pushed 65,000 chips in the middle. Jorstad quickly dispatched of his cards as Konnikova's stack grew back above what she started with.

Phil Ivey was also seated at this table and had been chipping up throughtout the early levels of the day.

A player raised to 5,500 in the hijack and Chris Hunichen called in the cutoff which saw Philip Sternheimer three-bet to 26,500 which saw only Hunichen call.

The flop rolled out 6♠2♣2♠ and Hunichen checked over to Sternheimer and called the 21,000 bet on the flop.

On the turn 8♥, Hunichen checked over to Sternheimer who moved all in for 90,000 effective which Hunichen called.
