Sternheimer Shows Ivey a Better Eight

Heads-up on the first draw, Philip Sternheimer bet from the small blind and Phil Ivey called on the button.

Ivey took one while Sternheimer stood pat and bet. Ivey then raised and Sternheimer called.

Both players stood pat and Ivey bet. Sternheimer called again and Ivey showed an 8-7-4. Sternheimer, though, had an 8-6-5 to win the pot.

Zolotow Takes from Leknes

Level 18 : Limits 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

Tobias Leknes opened from the button and Steve Zolotow defended from the big blind, drawing two while Leknes drew three.

Zolotow bet after the first draw and Leknes called. This time Zolotow stood pat while Leknes took two.

After the second draw Zolotow bet once more and was called by Leknes. This time Zolotow broke his hand and drew one. Leknes also took one.

With no draws remaining Zolotow checked, Lenkes bet and Zolotow called.

Lenkes had paired up and showed 7x7x for a bluff. Zolotow mentioned that he had a flush after the first draw and did not realize it before tabling Qx7x6x5x4x for the winner to take the pot.
