David Prociak
David Prociak

Day 2 of Event # 48: $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha has come to a close here at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. Some 126 survivors from Day 1 began the day and by the end of the night only eight players remained.

David Prociak captured his second WSOP bracelet just a few weeks ago in Event #11: $1,500 Badugi. Tonight, he put himself in a great position to capture a second one for this series and a third one overall, ending the night with the chip lead at 14,615,000 chips.

Just behind Prociak is fellow two-time bracelet winner Christopher Vitch with 13,530,000 while Thomas Taylor rounds out the top three in a distant third place with 6,100,000. Those three players have over three-quarters of the total chips in play between them, while the other five players will have significant catching up to do to stay in contention.

Vitch Takes it on the River

Level 28 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

David Prociak opened 250,000 under the gun and Christopher Vitch on the button, Joe Firova in the small blind and Konstantinos Tsikopoulos in the big blind all made the call.

The dealer spread a flop of 993, and the action checked to Vitch who fired 250,000. Firova folded but Tsikopoulos raised to 800,000. Prociak snap-mucked and Vitch stuck around with a call.

When the 4 fell on the turn Tsikopoulos continued for 1,000,000, and gave Vitch a side stare as Vitch began to think about his decision. After a about 30 seconds, Vitch called.

The 9 completed the board on the river and Tsikopoulos slowed down with a check. Vitch piled up a bet of 2,200,000 and as he started to slide it across the line Tsikopoulos pitched his cards into the muck.
