When the players turned over their hands Battenfield had flopped a straight and Verderamo had flopped two pair. The river brought the 10♣ which was no help to Verderamo and he was out.
Under the gun opened the action with a raise to 2,000,000. Action folded around to Khoi Phan in the cutoff who moved all in for 7,800,000. Under the gun quickly called and had Phan in bad shape for his tournament life.

David Kim raised to 1,100,000 from early position and Jake Brown defended his big blind.
On the 7♦3♣Q♥ flop, Brown check-called a bet from Kim.
The turn was a 2♥ which Brown led for a sizing of 1,800,000, and Kim made the call.
Brown checked the 8♥ river and Kim fired 2,300,000. After some time, Brown shoved all in and his Kim went into the tank. It took some time but eventually Kim folded and Brown took the pot.
"That's for all the times earlier. Honestly!" remarked Brown as he tabled J♦4♦ for a bluff.
Carson Richards raised to 1,025,000 in middle position and was called by Rafael Reis on the button. The players went heads up to a Q♣5♠7♦ flop. Richards lead out for 1,250,000 and Reis called. The turn brought the J♣ and both players checked. The river was the A♠, and both players checked again. Richards turned over 7♣10♣ and announced "pair of sevens", and Reis announced "pair of tens" and turned over 10♠10♥ to win the pot.
Pei Li raised on the button to 1,100,000 and Rafael Reis three-bet shoved all in from the small blind for 9,000,000, putting himself at risk. Li called and the two were off to the races.
