Level 30 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 0 ante
Kane Kalas
Kane Kalas

Kane Kalas opened to 20,000 on the button and Owen Messere called.

Messere check-called a 16,500 bet from Kalas on the J310 flop and then both players checked on the A turn.

The 2 completed the board and Messere checked once more. Kalas cut out a bet of 117,000 and placed it into the middle, which got a quick fold from Messere to award Kalas the pot.

Meanwhile, Sam Soverel has chipped Faraz Jaka down to under 200,000 across the table.

Martirosian Floors Katz

Level 30 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 0 ante
Cary Katz
Cary Katz

Despite taking the lead moments ago, Cary Katz was one again trailing Artur Martirosian

In a match reminiscent of Rocky IV's Apollo Creed vs Ivan Drago, the Russian delivered a killer blow to Katz's bracelet pursuit.

In a three-bet pot to the 2104 flop, Katz bet 67,000 from the big blind and called off the 300,000 more he had behind when Martirosian jammed.

Artur Martirosian: 87

The turn was the 5 keeping Katz ahead, but the 10 river completed Martirosian's flush draw to book his place in the Quarter Finals.

Martirosian will face Patrick Kennedy in the next round.

Katz called bets of 15,000 and 50,000 on the flop and turn for the final board to read AA678. Martirosian fired out another 150,000 before Katz jammed. Before the stack was counted, Martirosian folded Ax10x face up and Katz took in the pot.

Smith Trips up Mizumoto

Level 27 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 0 ante
John Smith
John Smith

John Smith opened to 8,000 on the button and Weston Mizumoto called.

Mizumoto check-called a 10,000 bet from Smith on the 85K flop and then both players checked on the 3 turn.

The 8 completed the board and Mizumoto took the initiative with a 35,000 bet. Smith called and Mizumoto showed 97 for a bluff.

Smith tabled 78 for trip eights and collected the pot.

On the other end of the table, Matthew Wantman and Darius Samual have been battling back and forth with neither player gaining a significant edge thus far.

Mizumoto in Awe of Smith

Level 26 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 0 ante
Weston Mizumoto
Weston Mizumoto

The match-up between Weston Mizumoto and John Smith offers an interesting dynamic, with Mizumoto being many years younger than the veteran.

Mizumoto asked Smith about his history in the event and was in awe as Smith reeled off his Heads-Up record.

Through the polite discourse, they tangled in a hand, that saw Smith take a small lead.

Smith opened to 6,500 from the button and was called. Mizimoto check-called for 7,000 on the 855 flop before folding to a bet of 10,000 on the 7 turn.

On a nearby table is the duel between Sam Soverel and Faraz Jaka. It appears the match has been back and forth in the early goings, with stacks looking even.

Katz Fighting Back

Level 26 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 0 ante
Cary Katz
Cary Katz

On a wet board of J89K, and 65,000 in the middle, Cary Katz led out with a bet of 50,000 and Artur Martirosian called.

The river brought the 8 and Katz fired out another bet, this time for 165,000. Martirosian used two time bank cards before eventually tossing his cards into the muck.

It is proving to be a back and forth match between the two early on.

Jacks Enough for Miller

Level 25 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 0 ante

Marko Grujic opened to 6,000 on the button and Joseph Miller called.

Miller then check-called a 5,000 bet from Grujic on the 6J3 flop and a 22,000 bet from Grujic on the K turn.

Both players checked down on the river and Miller turned over J4 for a pair of jacks, which got a nod of acknowledgement from Grujic followed by a muck to send the pot Miller’s way.

Across the table, James Gorham has built up a similar chip lead over Nikolai Mamut.

Wantman Takes Two

Level 25 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 0 ante

Darius Samual opened to 5,500 from the button and folded to Matthew Wantman's 28,000 three-bet.

The following hand, Wantman limped in, and Samual checked. Neither player took a stab on the flop and turn, with the board showing 983710 as they got to the river.

Samual led out for 5,500 but folded when Wantman made it 18,000.
