Vecino's Rivered Straight Gets Paid

Juan Vecino limped the small blind and Vanessa Kade checked her option.

The dealer spread a flop of A43 and Vecino fired 400,000 across the line. Kade called.

The 7 hit the turn and both players checked to see the 5 on the river. Vecino bet 1,000,000, and Kade quickly called.

Vecino rolled J2 for a straight on the river and Kade sighed as she quickly flashed 33 for a set of threes.

Juan Vecino opened 400,000 under the gun and Chris Klodnicki went in the tank from the cutoff. After a couple of minutes the clock was called and as the countdown hit five seconds, he called off his 175,000. Ravi Shankar also made the call from the big blind.

The dealer fanned a flop of AJ10 and Shankar led for 400,000 before Vecino raised to 1,000,000. Shankar tabled A5 before tossing his hand into the muck and both live hands were tabled.

The hand took place on Day 4 of Event #58: $50,000 Poker Players Championship, one of the most prestigious tournaments every year. And it will go down as one of the most memorable from the tournament.

Ravi Shankar raised 400,000 from the small blind and Juan Vecino defended the big blind.

When the JJ10 flop hit the felt, Shankar continued for 300,000 and Vecino called.

The 9 hit the turn and Shankar checked to Vecino who fired 700,000. Shankar took a few seconds before announcing all in for about 2,100,000 and Vecino snap-called.

Shankar looked disappointed to see the snap-call as he asked, "Do you have a jack?" and both hands were tossed on their backs.
