What is it about one-outer straight flushes involving poker legends this summer? Daniel Negreanu hit the dream card on the river in a crucial pot late Wednesday, and he's now in a solid position to end an 11-year World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet drought.

The hand took place on Day 4 of Event #58: $50,000 Poker Players Championship, one of the most prestigious tournaments every year. And it will go down as one of the most memorable from the tournament.

Action was caught on the turn, where the board was Q♣J♣J♦2♦. James Eglinton was in the big blind, checked and called a bet of 1,600 by Alejandro Quartinni on the cutoff.

The river was the 8♠. Eglinton now lead for 4,000 and was raised by Quattrini to 12,000.

Eglinton called and was visibly disappointed to see his opponent turn over 10♦9♠ for the rivered straight. Quattrini took down the pot and Eglinton later said he had trip jacks.

An excited Dan Komem flagged down PokerNews, with what he believes to be pertinent information in the 2024 World Series of Poker, hosted by Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.

Per Komem's fervent explanation, 7x4x is the hand of the summer and a force to be reckoned with. His tablemates confirmed that Komem was using said hand as a weapon, whether suited or unsuited. Shortly after declaring the power of the double-gapper he received a walk in the big blind with that very hand.

Only moments after PokerNews left the scene Komem claimed another pot, a winner with the dreaded 7x4x. He further commented that the hand of the summer of 2023 was Jx8x; sources could neither confirm nor deny.

On the turn 6♥, the big blind led out for 2,100 and Carmichael made the call.

The river J♥ slowed the big blind down, who checked, and Carmichael put in 4,000. The big blind thought for a while and made the call, hoping Carmichael did not have a heart but he did with the A♥J♠ and the big blind agonized over his call and showed the 6♠ for trips.

The river was the A♥. Dixon put forward a 25,000 chip and announced a bet. His opponent went deep into the tank and took a solid two minutes before giving it up to send Dixon the pot.

Heads up, the 7♥ peeled and Snyder check-folded to the all in of Roper.

On the turn 8♦ the big blind came out for a lead of 2,000 and Hardie three-bet to 5,000 which was called.

The river 2♠ slowed down the big blind who checked and Hardie bet out 12,200 and the big blind called.

The big blind turned over 7♠8♣ for two pair and Hardie turned over 6♦5♦ for the straight.
