Bhalla Regrets Not Peeling

Valentyn Shabelnyk raised to 4,000 under the gun, and was called by both David Stamm on the button, and Eshaan Bhalla in the small blind.
The 4♠7♦J♥ flop checked to Stamm, who took initiative and placed 5,500 into the middle. Bhalla quickly called, before Shabelnyk pulled out a check-raise to 15,500. Stamm continued, Bhalla did not. Shabelnyk followed through on the 9♣ turn, this time wagering all 27,500 of his chips. Following lengthy consideration, Stamm made the fold.
Bhalla, clearly upset with Stamm’s flop call, told the table he “would’ve peeled if [Stamm] hadn’t called”, believing his folded jack-nine would’ve been strong enough to call the shove.
