Funkhouser Outdraws Krescanko Jr; Yoon Short on Soft Bubble

Level 16 : Limits 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

James Newberry raised under the gun, David Funkhouser three-bet in the cutoff, and Michael Krescanko Jr four-bet in the big blind. After some thought, Newberry let his hand go, but Funkhouser tossed in a call.

Krescanko Jr stood pat while Funkhouser drew one card. Krescanko Jr tossed in a bet after the draw, which Funkhouser raised. Krescanko Jr called and remained pat, and this time Funkhouser did not take any cards either.

Krescanko Jr then check-called bets before and after the final draw, where both players remained pat. Funkhouser tabled 642A for a six-badugi, taking down the pot as Krescanko Jr mucked his cards in disbelief.

Brian Yoon was also on this table, playing less than one big bet with only two eliminations to go before the money.

Shiller Busts; Bubble Reached

Level 16 : Limits 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

Joseph Wagganer raised from under the gun and in the small blind Brendan Shiller three-bet and everyone else folded except for Wagganer.

Shiller stood pat on the first draw while Wagganer drew one, then called the bet from Shiller.

On the second draw, Shiller stood pat again while Wagganer drew one. Shiller moved all in and Wagganer called.

Both players stood pat on the end.

Brendan Shiller: 963A All in
Joseph Wagganer: 762A

Neither player had a Badugi, so Wagganer's 6-2-A three-dugi was good to beat Shiller's 6-3-A three-dugi, and Shiller was eliminated from the tournament.

Now the players have reached the hand-for-hand portion of the tournament.

Level 16 : Limits 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Brian Yoon

The first hand after the bubble, James Newberry raised under the gun, being called by Jason Lopata and Michael Krescanko Jr in the blinds. Lopata stood pat, Krescanko Jr took two cards, and Newberry needed one.

Lopata then led out, Krescanko Jr called, and Newberry raised. Lopata called, but Krescanko Jr had seen enough and mucked his cards. On the second draw, Lopata decided to break his hand, drawing one card.

Newberry stood pat and tossed in his final 6,000 after the draw. Lopata check-called and drew once more on the final draw, with Newberry standing pat behind.

James Newberry: Q865 All in
Jason Lopata: 74A

Lopata's final card was the Q, leaving him unable to beat the badugi of Newberry.

One hand later, Brian Yoon tossed in his final 4,000 under the gun. Lopata then limped in on the button, Krescanko Jr followed suit in the small blind, and Newberry checked his option in the big blind.

On the first draw, Krescanko Jr and Newberry took one card each, while Yoon and Lopata each opted to draw two. Krescanko Jr then bet, Newberry raised, and both Lopata and Krescanko Jr called.

On the second draw, Krescanko Jr and Newberry both stood pat. Yoon still needed two cards, while Lopata took one this time. Krescanko Jr checked to Newberry, who bet. Lopata decided to get out of the way before Krescanko Jr tossed in another call.

On the final draw, Krescanko Jr and Newberry remained pat, with Yoon changing one more card. Krescanko Jr check-called a final bet from Newberry, and all cards were tabled.

Newberry tabled 742A for a seven-badugi, beating the 8754 of Krescanko Jr and the 1094A of Yoon. He won back-to-back pots and eliminated the five-time bracelet winner from the tournament.
