Biggest Badugi Tournament Ever Has 98 Returning for Day 2

The draw poker fans of the 2025 World Series of Poker were out in full force yesterday as the prior size record of Badugi events at the WSOP was passed. Some 534 entrants came out to create a prize pool of $708,885 to be divided among the final 81 players. Just 98 come into today with their hopes not yet dashed, with their eyes all sitting on the $138,114 and the WSOP gold bracelet that will go to first place.

Leading the way is young gun Ray Fishman, who starts the day with 441,000. His journey to a first bracelet will not be easy as many players like Arthur Morris (308,000), Patrick Stacey (224,000), David Funkhouser (220,000), Andrew Yeh (220,000), George Wolff (217,000), Daniel Zack (198,000), Benjamin Yu (185,000), and Andrew Brown (84,000). These are just a few of the many stars who have made their way into the second day.

Today at 1 p.m. in the Horseshoe Bronze Section, play will begin in Level 16. Blinds will be 3,000/6,000 and limits will be 6,000/12,000. Each level will last 60 minutes and a 15-minute break will occur at the conclusion of every two levels, with a 60-minute dinner break after Level 21. After that players will continue to play through Level 25 and bag up for the final day.

Ryan Demeter raised in the cutoff and saw Matthew Kelley defend his big blind. Kelley drew one card, and Demeter stood pat. Kelley then check-raised Demeter, Demeter called and stood pat, and Kelley followed suit.

Kelley and Demeter remained pat across the next two draws, with Kelley betting twice and Demeter calling to showdown.

Kelley tabled 875A for an eight-badugi, which won him the pot when Demeter mucked his cards.

Po Falls To Wantman

Kenneth Po raised all in from the button and in the big blind, Matthew Wantman called.

Wantman drew two on the first draw and one on the second draw while Po stood pat the whole time.

Wantman peeled his final card to reveal the 9 to give him a nine-badugi against Po's king and Po became the first casualty of the day.

Tilton Wins Four Bets on River

Andy Jeh put in a raise in the cutoff. With an absent big blind, James Tilton called in the small blind and drew one card, after which Tilton also took a fresh one.

Both players checked and drew one card again, but this time, Tilton placed a bet. Jeh called, and both players stood pat on the last draw.

That is when the action exploded, as Tilton bet, Jeh raised, Tilton three-bet, Jeh four-bet, and Tilton called.

Yeh showed 643A for a six-badugi, but Tilton had a lower one with his 543A, winning the large pot.

Wantman Doubles Dire Stack

Joseph Wagganer raised in the small blind, and Matthew Wantman called in the big blind, leaving only 6,000 behind.

Wagganer and Wantman both drew two cards thrice, checking until after the final draw, where Wagganer put Wantman all-in.

Wantman tossed in a quick call, and his 842A was the better three-card hand over the 7332 of Wagganer.
