Today sees the start of Event #3: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em 8-Handed here at Horseshoe and Paris, Las Vegas.

The four-day event gets underway at 12 p.m. local time. There will be 15-minute breaks every two levels, with a 60-minute dinner break after Level 6 (~6:30 p.m.)

The starting stack is 50,000 chips, and the plan for Day 1 is to play 10 levels. Levels are 60-minutes long, and Day 2 resumes at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 29. Late registration is open for 12 levels and will shut at approximately 2:15 p.m. on Day 2.

Now in its second year, 2024’s inaugural event was won by Brent Hart who emerged victorious after defeating Eddie Ochana in heads-up play. Hart took home $660,284 for his victory in what he called a “sick field.”

“Every table, I was like, ‘Wait a minute’,” Hart told PokerNews. “And it was great because I was able to learn something every day. I was able to sit with seasoned players and pick up small nuances here and there, so it was a win-win."

Paur Gets Value From Cazayous

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Taylor Paur had opened the cutoff, and Thomas Cazayous three-bet the button. When it got back to Paur, he called.

The action then was checked to the river on the 93729 board when Paur bet 5,500. Cazayous sat still while he decided how to proceed, and after around thirty seconds, he called.

Paur then showed 66 for a pair of sixes, and Cazayous mucked.

Williams Forces Tasyurek Out on the Turn

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

There were around 2,500 chips in the pot on a 757 flop when Halil Tasyurek fired out 800 from the small blind and Jeremiah Williams called in the cutoff.

A J hit the turn, and Tasyurek continued to fire, this time for 2,200. Williams took some time before he counted out a raise to 9,500. Without much hesitation, Tasyurek returned his cards to the dealer, allowing Williams to drag the pot.

Lawhead off to a Good Start

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

There were roughly 2,200 chips in the middle on a flop of J95. Michael Stringer bet 1,000 from the big blind when the 5 hit the turn, which David Lawhead quickly called in the small blind.

Action slowed down when the 3 fell on the river, and both players checked. Stringer tabled QJ for top pair but could not beat Lawhead's Q5 for three of a kind.

Damphousse Forcing Decisions

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Michael Damphousse opened from under the gun to 400 and was re-raised to 1,700 from Antoine Labat on his immediate left playing six-handed. Darren Elias elected to call and see three from the button, while Damphousse followed.

Three ways to a flop of A73 where action checked to Elias. He fired out 1,700, Damphousse called, and Labat elected to get out of the way.

A potential flush bringing 2 fell on the turn, and action was checked around.

With the A being dealt on the river, Damphousse fired two bright red 5,000 chips into the middle. Elias was not interested in the paired four-spade board, and he released.

Mammen Gives Up Against Mandara

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

On a flop of 1022 with around 2,000 in the pot, Ryan Mandara checked and Krasimir Yankov fired out 1,000 from the hijack. Joshua Mammen called on the button before Mandara check-raise to 3,000. Yankov got out of the way, but Mammen called.

When the K dropped on the turn, Mandara fired another bet of 3,000. That was enough to earn him the pot as Mammen threw his cards away.
