Bluffing a Bracelet Winner

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

The action started before the flop when Nick Guagenti raised to 145,000 from the under the gun and the action folded to Yishu Yang made the call from the button and we went to a flop.

The flop came 9J5 and Guagenti bet 80,000 and Yang called.

The 9 peeled off on the turn and Guagenti checked to Yang who moved all in for 225,000. Gaugenti went into the tank, shaking his head.

"You have king-queen?" asked Guagenti. After about two minutes Guagenti folded and Yang flipped over KQ.

Michael Moncek

With his ever-present burnt orange University of Texas "Block T" logo cap, Michael Moncek, better known to most as Texas Mike, has quietly moved into the top 20 in chip counts.

Moncek, who has won two bracelets said his WSOP is going "just OK" thus far. Just OK for Moncek would be outstanding for many.

He has ninth-place finishes in the $25,000 Mixed PLO/NLH High Roller and the $5,000 Eight Handed No-Limit Hold'em events, plus an 11th place in the $10,000 Mystery Bounty.

The Bubble Has Burst; Sanchez Survives

Level 19 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

With 976 players remaining in the field, play was halted to prepare for hand-for-hand action. It was unnecessary, as when all was settled, four players were eliminated.

The group split the minimum cash ($1,647) four ways.

High drama played out on Table 450, as Luz Sanchez faced two tough decisions against Daniel Hirose.

With the flop and turn of 2788, Hirose bet 56,000 chips. Sanchez said didn't quite understand why every dealer in the room was standing, nor what hand-for-hand would be.

She thought long and hard about making the call. Eventually, the clock was called on her and with two seconds left, she threw in the call.

The 6 landed on the river and Hirose quickly pushed all in. Again, Sanchez went into the tank. Again, Hirose called for the clock.

"I'm sorry ... clock," he said.

Sanchez waited for a bit then made the call, risking her tournament life, and waited for Hirose to show.

Hirose turned over 44. Sanchez, almost surprised, flipped QQ and took down the pot.

Had she lost the hand, the last minimum cash would have been split five ways.

Hutchinson Doubles on Bubble

Level 19 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

With the bubble closing in and four players left to being in the money, the action folded to Christian Roberts on the button who raised to 99,000. Dean Hutchison called in the small blind position for his remaining 74,000.

Dean Hutchison: 88All in
Christian Roberts: 109

"No sets" said Roberts as the board flopped 7K6 in jest as any eight giving Hutchison a set would give Roberts the nut straight.

The turn was the 5 with Hutchison in the lead going to the river.

Unfortunately for Roberts a river card of J sent a pile of chips to Hutchison.
