Today sees the start of Event #33: $1,500 Limit Hold'em (8-Handed) here at Horseshoe and Paris, Las Vegas.
This three-day event gets underway at 2 p.m. local time with late registration open for nine levels (approx. 8:45 p.m.). There will be 15-minute breaks every three levels, with no dinner break scheduled on Day 1.
The starting stack is 25,000 chips with the plan for Day 1 to play 15 40-minute levels. Day 2 resumes at 1 p.m. on Tuesday when levels increase to 60 minutes.
Last year's event saw 434 players generate a prize pool of $591,405. The winner was Nick Guagenti, who defeated Joseph Brodsky heads up in a United States one-two. Guagenti took home $121,074 and his second WSOP bracelet, but this marked his first WSOP triumph in the live arena.
“I’m only here to win bracelets,” was Guagenti's response when asked how he felt and what this win meant to him. “It’s fast. The pace of [Limit Hold'em] is much faster than the other games. It’s automatic and robotic.”
