Two Houses Both Full

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Frank Brannan made it 25,000 to go from under the gun. Action folded around to Pavel Plesuv in the big blind who made the call.

A flop of AJ4 was bet by Brannan for 20,000 after a check from Plesuv. Plesuv called.

Both players knuckled a turn of 4.

On a 2 river, Plesuv bet out 67,000. Brannan announced 238,000, and with a face of disgust, Plesuv made the call.

Frank Brannan: QxQJJ

Pavel Plesuv couldn't help but show his A4.

Having a higher full house, Brannan is now in an excellent position to steadily push through this tough day two field with a very healthy chip stack.

Rodriguez Doubles through Deeb

Level 17 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Rafael Rodriguez went all in on a flop of J102 and was called by Shaun Deeb.

Rafael Rodriguez: KK72 All in
Shaun Deeb: AK108

The turn brought the 2, further improving Rodriguez to trip deuces and leaving Deeb drawing thin. When the 6 peeled, Rodriguez doubled up.

There Are No Friends in Poker

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

There is nothing on this earth more to be prized than true friendship.

Well, except for the chance to move up in the money of the $5,000 Pot-limit Omaha championship at the World Series of Poker.

After being chopped down to less than two big blinds, Jake Liebeskind was desperate when the lengthy hand-for-hand play finally forced him all in. There were 115 players remaining in the tournament, but only 114 would cash.

To Liebeskind’s surprise, Tony Lin, who raises the pot an irrational percentage of times, folded under the gun.

Then, player after player after player, followed suit.

“Oh my God, this is the nicest table in the world,” Liebeskind said.

He spoke too soon.

When the action moved to Aaron Kupin on the button, he pushed forward a raise, meaning Liebeskind’s tournament life was at risk.

The two are friends. While waiting for the dealer to lay out the flop, Liebeskind even joked (sort of), that Kupin’s wedding gift would depend on the result of the hand.

Kupin is getting married next Valentine's Day. Presumably, one of his gifts will not be quite as nice as it could have been.

Kupin showed A1087. Liebeskind had 9833, and led after a flop of 2KK and the turn 9. However, the 10 on the river gave Kupin a bigger pair and sent Liebeskind to the rail as the last man out without a payday.

As they say, there are no friends in poker.

“Once the cards go in the air, it’s poker,” Kupin said with a shrug.

Yockey Busts Stranak

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Bryce Yockey
Bryce Yockey

Action folded to Samuel Stranak on the button, who raised to 22,000. Next to act, Bryce Yockey announced pot from the small blind and raised it to 74,000. Pot was then announced by Stranak, putting himself at risk for 220,000. Yockey made the call, and the players tabled their hands.

Samuel Stranak: AA33All in
Bryce Yockey: AK104

Once the flop of K84 came out giving Yockey two pair, Stranak needed help.

The 5 turn gave Stranak more outs, but the 9 river was of no use to Stranak, and his tournament run was over.

Full Value With Quads

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Quan Tran got the vast majority of his chips into play on a turn of 7310Q against Anthony Lamps.

Lamps checked on the Q river and Tran moved the last of his chips in the middle, followed by a quick call from Lamps.

Tran was quick to show quads with his QQ55 and Lamps mucked his hand, switching his focus to taking inventory of his remaining chips.

Livingston Not Afraid of Busting; Bubble Play Continues

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Alex Livingston
Alex Livingston

Alex Livingston called a three-bet preflop, in position, against Mark Aridgides and they went heads up to a flop of K32.

Aridgides continued from the big blind with a bet of 70,000. Livingston called.

The turn brought the J and Aridgides checked this time, prompting a pot-sized bet from Livingston.

Aridgides folded and Livingston let him know he flopped a huge combo draw by showing the A453.

Someone else at the table chimed in, "So, you're saying you had a pair of threes?".
