Eldridge Puts a Big Dent in Shakerchi

Level 19 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Michael Duek opened to 105,000 from under the gun and Talal Shakerchi flat-called on the button. David Eldridge three-bet to 420,000 from the big blind which got Duek to fold but Shakerchi still called.

The flop came Q97 and Eldridge shipped all in for his remaining 735,000. Shakerchi asked for a count and then called to put Eldridge at risk.

David Eldridge: AA87All in
Talal Shakerchi: KK95

The turn brought the 4 which narrowed Shakerchi's outs even further. The river was the Q and Eldridge hung on for a big double up.

Taylor Puts a Stop to Brannan

Level 19 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Frank Brannan opened to 105,000 in middle position, playing his third consecutive hand. Thomas Taylor was the only one to call from the big blind and the dealer spread the flop of Q43.

Taylor checked to Brannan who continued with a bet of 125,000. Taylor just called and the 8 landed on the turn. Taylor checked again and Brannan fired out a bet of 300,000. Taylor used a time bank before raising the pot, prompting a snap-fold from Brannan.

Biao Ding
Biao Ding

Biao Ding raised from the button to 100,000, and only Joni Jouhkimainen called, defending his big blind.

Jouhkimainen checked the 7Q5 flop, allowing Ding to continue with the betting lead, doing so for 250,000. Jouhkimainen then put his plan into action, check-raising to pot, which was enough to put Ding all in. Ding confirmed the raise size before calling and turning his cards over.

Biao Ding: AKQ5 All in
Joni Jouhkimainen: 8766

Jouhkimainen had a pair and an open-ended straight draw, but was behind Ding's two pair.

The turn A improved Ding to a better two pair, and the river 10 gave him the check mark and the full double up.

Ivey Takes a Small One

Level 20 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Phil Ivey raised to 120,000 from the hijack, and only Jonas Kronwitter, in the big blind, called.

Both players checked the J33 flop, and the dealer put out the 9 turn.

Kronwitter took over the betting lead, putting 100,000 in the middle, which Ivey called.

Both players then checked again on the Q river, and Ivey's KQJ8 was good enough to lay claim to the pot.

Eldridge Takes From Ivey

Level 20 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

The action began when Phil Ivey raised to 120,000 from the hijack. David Eldridge called from the cutoff, and the rest of the table folded to take two players to the flop.

Ivey and Eldridge both checked the K93 flop.

When the 10 came on the turn, Ivey checked, but Eldridge opted to fire 180,000. Ivey folded in response as Eldridge won the pot.

Hrabec Sends Winter to the Rail

Level 20 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

The hand began when Sean Winter chose to raise to 140,000 from under the gun. Roman Hrabec raised to 480,000 in the next seat over, which was enough to put Winter all in.

The table folded around, and Winter called to head to a showdown.

Sean Winter: KKJ2All in
Roman Hrabec: AAJ7

Winter needed help to stay alive, but the 4676Q runout instead improved Hrabec to a flush to send Winter out of the tournament.

Lau Doubles Through Eldridge

Level 20 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Ka Kwan Lau
Ka Kwan Lau

Action folded to David Eldridge on the button, who raised to 115,000. Ka Kwan Lau then three-bet from the small blind to 460,000. The big blind got out of the way, and Eldridge moved all in, covering Lau's stack. Lau made the call, and the cards were turned on their backs.

Ka Kwan Lau: AQJ3 All in
David Eldridge: QQJ6

The flop gave Lau a flush draw, coming 586, and he didn't need to wait long to hit it. The turn provided the 9, and the inconsequential river came the 8.

The dealer counted down Lau's full stack, confirming it to be 770,000. A dismayed Eldridge then slid a stack of chips to his opponent, giving him a late night double-up.
