Duek Takes it Down with a Pot-Sized River Bet

Michael Duek limped in from middle position. Phil Ivey also limped on the button, Dennis Weiss called from the small blind, and Talal Shakerchi checked his option.

The flop of K♠4♣4♥ saw all players check. Then on the 6♣ turn, it was Weiss who woke up with a bet. He fired 425,000 into the pot. Only Duek called.

The A♣ was the river card, and Weiss checked. Duek fired a pot-sized bet for 1,850,000. Weiss thought for a moment, and decided to fold.

Phil Ivey opened to 440,000 from under the gun and Dennis Weiss defended from the big blind. The flop came J♠8♣2♥ and the action checked through to the 10♥ on the turn and the 9♦ on the river.

Weiss finally led out with a bet of 550,000 and Ivey contemplated for a moment before making the call. Weiss turned over A♣5♠3♣2♣ for just a pair of deuces while Ivey showed A♥K♥K♣10♣ for a pair of kings to win the pot.

The action started with Dennis Weiss limping from the cutoff, prompting Phil Ivey to do the same on the button. Talal Shakerchi put an end to the limped pot, raising to 600,000 from the small blind. Weiss and Ivey both called, and the three went to a flop.

Action checked to Ivey on the 9♦8♠6♦ flop, and he took his opportunity to take over the betting lead. He put out a pot-sized bet of 2,040,000, which was enough to see both his opponents fold their cards.

When action folded to Phil Ivey in middle position, he limped in. This encouraged the small blind to do the same, but Evan Krentzman, in the big blind, was having none of it, raising to 480,000.

Ivey called, and the small blind folded.

Both Krentzman and Ivey checked the J♣4♠9♥ flop, but when the 5♣ turn was dealt, Krentzman slid out 1,200,000, a pot-sized bet. Ivey called to see one more card.

The river A♥ saw sparks fly. Krentzman continued for 1,500,000, but Ivey responded by moving all in. Krentzman didn't waste any time folding, and Ivey pulled in a huge pot.

Evan Krentzman opened to 420,000, and when action got to Scott Bohlman, he opted to three-bet to 1,360,000. This was for most of Bohlman's stack, so when Krentzman four-bet, this put Bohlman all in, and he called.

The J♦3♠8♠ flop was safe for Bohlman, as was the 7♣ turn.

Unfortunately for Bohlman, though, the river A♠ spelled disaster, giving Krentzman the best hand and sending Bohlman to the rail.

Jeffrey Hakim raised it up from the cutoff and was called by Lautaro Guerra and Aaron Kupin in the blinds. The flop came K♣6♥5♦ and the action checked around to the 8♥ on the turn.

Kupin led out with a pot-sized bet of 1,005,000 on the turn and Hakim called. Guerra got out of the way and the 10♥ completed the board. Kupin checked this time and Hakim shoved all in. Kupin had a decision to make for his remaining 275,000 chips and he burned through multiple time banks.

"I don't even know if I had the best hand on the turn," Kupin thought out loud. He eventually called it off and tabled A♠7♦6♣4♠ for an eight-high straight. Hakim, on the other hand, turned over 8♣7♥6♦5♥ for a flush and Kupin was eliminated.

Bryn Kenney limped in from under the gun and Frank Brannan raised to 450,000 in the cutoff. Ben Lamb flat-called on the button and Kenney came along as well. The flop fell 9♠8♣6♣ and the action checked to Lamb who bet 1,600,000. Kenney quickly folded but Brannan used a couple of time banks before calling off his stack of roughly 700,000.

Brannan was ahead with his pocket aces but Lamb flopped a pair and had plenty of two pair options. The 5♠ on the turn was a brick but the J♦ on the river gave Lamb two pair to eliminate Brannan just before the break.
