Weissman Heros with One Pair

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Brett Shaffer raised it up from under the gun and was called by Jeffery Fritz on the button and Joey Weissman in the big blind. The flop came AK4 and the action checked to Fritz who bet 6,000. Weissman called and Shaffer got out of the way.

The turn was the 2 and both players checked to the 10 on the river. Weissman checked again and Fritz threw in another bet of 7,000. Weissman sat up in his chair and gave it some thought before flicking in a call. Fritz turned over 86 for complete air while Weissman held K9 for a pair of kings to win the pot.

Unsuccessful Big Blind Defense for Franco

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

"Let's go Sonny, defend your big blind," Jimmy Guerrero joked while talking to Sonny Franco who obviously defended his big blind against Fernando Garcia's open to 3,000 from the hijack.

Both players checked the 367 flop leading to the 7 turn where Franco led out for 4,000. Garcia made the call.

The K river landed on the felt and was checked twice once again. Franco turned over 86 for two pair, but Garcia had a better two pair with 1010. "Back to the starting stack," Franco added.

Fan Calls Down Picone to Score a Crucial Double

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

With around 11,500 in the pot and the board showing 7J9K, Chih Fan checked from the small blind in a heads-up pot against Igor Picone in the big blind. Picone fired a bet of 11,000, and after some thought, Fan made the call.

The 5 river completed the board, and Fan checked once more. Picone quickly pushed in a stack of 5,000 chips, putting Fan all in for his remaining 39,000. Fan took a short pause, then tossed in the call.

Picone turned over Q3 for a missed straight draw, while Fan revealed K3 for top pair. His kings were good, and he locked up a double-up.
