Chilakapati Rivers Higher Straight

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

After an early position raise to 8,000 by Michael Megison, Ramaprasad Chilakapati called, followed by two others still to act.

The flop 9QJ folded around to Chilakapati, who took over the betting lead, pushing out a bet of 9,000. Only Megison called, and the players moved on to the turn.

Megison decided to retake the betting lead on the 4 turn, doing so for 13,000, which Chilikapati called.

The river 10 saw sparks fly. Megison moved all in for his remaining stack, and Chilikapati snap-called. Megison turned over 98 for a rivered straight, but Chilikapati showed he had rivered a higher straight with his KQ.

Megison was the shorter stack and, as such, vacated his seat and headed to the exit.
