Pursuit of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) gold bracelet in Event #68: $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em continues today at the Horseshoe and Paris, Las Vegas at noon local time. Of the 351 players who reached the money in Day 2, just 127 remain, out of a field of 2,338 total entries, vying for the first-place prize of $830,685.

Kunal Patni, who has an extensive list of cashes at WSOP events in the past decade, is in prime position to claim his first bracelet. Patni, who finished 20th in this event a year ago, and eighth in a $3,000 Freezeout here two years ago, enters the day second in chips with 2,125,000.

Hamid Toghyan holds the chip lead (2,545,000) on an international leaderboard that has eight countries represented among the top ten players.

Richard Doubles First Hand of the Day

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Jason Richard raised to 40,000 in early position and Roeland Peeks flatted in the hijack.

The flop came 2A2 and Richard continued with a bet of 50,000. Peeks called and the turn brought the 8.

Richard bet again, this time for 125,000 and Peeks stuck around. The river landed the 3.

Richard moved all in for 175,000 and Peeks went into the tank before eventually making the call.

Richard tabled AQ for two pair, aces and deuces with a queen kicker, besting the AJ of Peeks.

Defoe Spikes an Ace to Triple

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Angela Defoe
Angela Defoe

Action was folded around to Angela Defoe in the cutoff, who open jammed all in for 160,000. Cesar Del Pino in the small blind flat called only to see Corey Kempson three-bet all in from the big blind, having both players covered. Del Pino got out of the way.

Angela Defoe: A4All in
Corey Kempson: 88

The flop of J104 didn't help Defoe enough, nor did the Q dropping on the turn. When the A peeled off on the river, it made her a better pair, two pair actually, and the pot was pushed Defoe's way for a handsome triple-up.

Oneal Cracks Queens

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

John Oneal raised to 40,000 under the gun and Pierre Merlin three-bet shoved in middle position for 325,000 to put himself at risk. Oneal made the call.

Pierre Merlin: QQ All in
John Oneal: AQ

Oneal pulled ahead on the 6A9 flop, pairing his ace, but Merlin picked up a flush draw. There were no hearts to be found on the K turn or A river and Merlin was sent packing.

Labranche Scoops a Monster

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Action was joined with the board reading 5K79 and the pot at over 200,000.

Smain Mamouni, who was on the button, bet out for 210,000, and Jonah Labranche in the big blind was in the tank for a good 3-4 minutes before he announced that he was all in. Fabrizio Gonzalez, who was also in the pot, snap-folded while Mamouni snap-called.

Jonah Labranche: QJAll in
Smain Mamouni: 86

Mamouni had turned a straight and needed to dodge a spade to send Labranche to the rail. However, the 3 peeled off on the river and made Labranche his flush for a monster pot and to send him soaring up the chip counts with nearly 2,000,000. Mamouni was left with a little more than a bowl of rice after the nasty suck-out.
