Doublon Fails to Double

Action was picked up with William Kerkaert calling the open shove of Dominik Doublon, to his right, and with action folded around, the two players went to showdown.

It was a coin flip which Doublon immediately lost on the flop of K♠Q♥6♥. The turn A♦ further improved Kerkaert's hand to a two pair, which visibly disheartened Doublon. The board was completed with a 4♠ river. Doublon left the table disappointed as Kerkaert scooped the pot.

Joseph Michishima opened the hand with a raise to 3,000 from the hijack. Brian Wardrup came along with a call from the small blind.

The 4♦J♦J♣ fanned out on the flop, which led to checks from both Wardrup and Michishima.

Both players checked down the 4♠ turn and the Q♣ river. Wardrup announced ten-high before Michishima showed his A♣10♣ to scoop the pot with the two pair on the board and ace high.

With action passed to him heads-up, Theodore Horrocks fired 3,000 on a flop of 7♥4♠9♣ and with a pot of around 10,000. Shawn Pilot, in the big blind, called to see the next street.

Pilot checked the turn 2♦. Horrocks shot another 8,000 and got an all-in reply from Pilot. Horrocks snap-called prompting them to table their hands.

With around 7,000 chips in the pot on a flop of 4♣9♠5♦, Ryan Marks led out for 3,000 from early position. Mrityunjay Jha, also in early position, raised to 9,500. Marks responded with a three-bet to 19,000, and Jha made the call.

On the 4♥ turn, Marks continued for 16,500 and Jha called once more. Both players checked the Q♦ river.

Marks tabled 5♥5♠ for a full house, and Jha mucked his hand.

Action began, as it often does, with a preflop raise, this one coming from Darrell Dolen, who made it 3,000 from early position. Eric Kotsines smooth called two doors down, and Daniel "Howie" Fanselow did the same from the hijack. The three went off to a flop and, as it turned out, it couldn't have been more perfectly curated for action.

As the 9♠5♥7♠ flop fanned out, Dolen continued for 6,000, Kotsines raised to 18,000, before Fanselow three-bet all in. Dolen called, covering both other players, and Kotsines put himself at risk, too.

If the devil himself chose a flop for this hand, it would've been the one that gave top set to Kotsines, bottom set to Fanselow, as well as the nut flush draw and a gutshot to Dolen. Incredibly, Dolen went runner-runner two pair, yet still came last in the hand, unable to crack either set and having to pay out a huge portion of his stack. Somehow, nobody busted, but both he and Fanselow were left short, whereas Kotsines' chips now rose highest above the rail.
