Brad Ruben raised from the cutoff and Ken Deng defended his big blind.
Both took one and Deng check-called a bet.
On the second draw, both took one again and Deng check-called.
Deng now stood pat and Ruben still needed one. Deng checked to Ruben who fired again and Deng quickly called. Ruben tabled 8♣7♥6♠4♠3♦ for an eight-seven low and badugi as Deng tapped the table and surrendered as he could not salvage half against Ruben.
Mike Thorpe was all in after being left on fumes by Stephen O'Dwyer a few hands earlier, while Brad Ruben and Dan Zack built a side pot. Zack bet after the second draw and Ruben called.
Zack stood pat, Thorpe drew two, and Ruben one. Zack then bet and Ruben called.
Zack showed 9♠7♥6♥4♥2♠ for a 9-7, while Ruben had Q♠8♦7♠5♥2♣ for a Badugi. Thorpe was showing 6♦4♠3♥2♥ as he peeled his last card, which was an A♠ as Thorpe was sent to the rail.
Naoya Kihara opened the cutoff to 24,000 before Christopher Vitch jammed the big blind for 195,000 effective as the covering stack. Kihara contemplated for over a minute before he slid a stack forward to put himself at risk.
Vitch took one and Kihara stood pat.
Naoya Kihara: 10x9x7x6x3x
Christopher Vitch: 9x7x6x3x
Kihara was in good shape with a made ten against the nine-draw of Vitch. However, Vitch would peel the 5♦ on the end to make his nine and send the former PPC third-place finisher Kihara to the rail.
