Welcome back to PokerNews, the official media partner of the 2025 World Series of Poker, bringing you live updates from every bracelet event.

Today marks the start of Event #99: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em (8-Handed), the penultimate bracelet-awarding event of the summer. This two-day tournament allows a single reentry before registration closes.

Day 1 starts at 2 p.m. local time on Tuesday, July 15. Players sit down armed with 50,000 chips and play 30-minute levels throughout; 20 levels are pencilled in for the opening day. Late registration remains open for 12 levels (until ~8:45 p.m. local time), and 15-minute breaks are scheduled every four levels. There is no dinner break planned on Day 1.

Those who navigate to Day 2 return to their seats at the slightly earlier time of 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, with the plan to play until a new champion is crowned.

Last summer, 1,042 players bought into this event, creating a $4,793,200 prize pool. Matthew Alsante came out on top, denying Punnat Punsri heads-up. Alsante secured his first gold bracelet and a career-best $785,486 prize.
