New Rule?
Old school suggest new rule.
After Stuart Mccormack raised to 150,000 from middle position and Freddy Deeb called from the cutoff, action stalled while players pondered their next action.
The field was at a spot where the next pay jump was worth a little over $500.
Deeb, who won the first of his two bracelets 30 years ago, made a suggestion.
"I think they should make a rule that if you think for more than a minute, you must call or raise, you cannot fold," he said.
Just about then, John Riordan, shortstacked and in the big blind, moved almost all in with 295,000 of his 300,000-chip stack.
McCormack came over the top for a pot-sized raise, sending the action to Deeb.
"Take your time," Riordan said.
While Deeb did not take much time to fold, Riordan sat on his 5,000 chip for some time before finally adding it to the pot.
John Riordan: 8♥7♥7♦6♠
Stuart Mccormack: K♦K♣4♣2♦
Riordan survived with a straight in a runout of 4♥5♠9♠2♥7♣.
Ten minutes later, six other players had busted out and he was still alive.
