Hellmuth Breaks a Ten, Jack is Still Good
Level 18
: Blinds 8,000/16,000, 24,000 ante
Phil Hellmuth raised to 45,000 under the gun and Naoya Kihara three-bet to 135,000 on the button. Hellmuth called and drew one, while Kihara stood pat.
Hellmuth checked to Kihara, who quickly checked back. "I broke a ten," Hellmuth said as he turned over Jx8x7x6x2x. Kihara mucked.
"You've been three-betting us with jacks the whole time?" Hellmuth said.
"Not us. Just you, Phil," Shaun Deeb added.
The next hand at this table, four players went to the draw where Deeb bet 100,000 from the hijack. Hellmuth called in the cutoff, as did Dan Shak on the button.
"My first pat eight," Deeb said as he turned over 8x5x4x3x2x. Both Hellmuth and Shak mucked.
