Gard's Run Comes to an End

Level 23 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

The action was picked up on a board of Q2K10 with roughly 350,000 in the pot. William Gard under the gun moved all-in for 605,000 and Ryan Hiller in the hijack went deep into the tank. He eventually made the call.

Ryan Hiller: KQ All in
William Gard: 99

Hiller called with two pair and managed to avoid spades and jacks on the 6 river to take the pot. Both stacks were counted and he was slightly covered so he doubled up while Gard was left with 10,000.

In the next hand, Gard was forced all-in in the big blind but managed to stay in the tournament by hitting two pair with 72 against two players. Moments later however, he was all-in in the small blind and called by Michael Newman in the big blind.

Michael Newman: A6

Gard didn't survive this one and was eliminated on 10Q8K5. "Not bad for my first tournament in 15 years," he said while leaving.
