Braxton Dunaway Poker History
While Dunaway is a regular crusher on the Texas poker scene, the biggest scores of his career have come at the WSOP.
Dunaway finished 3rd in the 2025 WSOP Main Event, taking $4,000,000 back to his hometown of Midland, Texas, after a dream run. After the tournament, he would tell PokerNews "I'm not upset with any decision I made this whole tournament, I'm happy, kind of ready to rest, just relax and soak it all in."
A proud husband and father, after winning his maiden WSOP bracelet in the 2023 Monster Stack, Dunaway's first order of business after the last card was dealt was to call his wife, Stephanie, and their four children – Jordyn, who just graduated from college; Macy, who is 17 and a senior in high school; Hayes, who is in ninth grade; and eight-year-old Sawyer.
“Our little girl who runs the whole show, the boss of the family, we call her ‘Bossy Saucy,’” said Dunaway, who indicated he'd fly to Omaha, Nebraska in the morning to meet his wife and two youngest children.
“They’re at the College World Series,” Dunaway explained. “My son is in a tournament during that, which is for teenage boys. He won his first two games today, and he’s guaranteed like five more games. I’ll be there, we’ll catch some games, and just hang out on vacation.”
Before the Monster Stack victory and deep run in the Main, Dunaway had $333,318 in lifetime tournament earnings according to The Hendon Mob, which included a prior career-best of $62,500 for finishing in 142nd place in the 2022 WSOP Main Event.
After winning his second bracelet at the 2026 WSOP, Dunaway said to PokerNews, "It’s validation to your peers and to yourself that you can finish again." He also stated that he was planning to make another deep run in the Main Event. "I need back-to-back final tables! I’m excited, I’m gonna play more now. We’re gonna go home now for a couple of days, come back, and be ready to play this weekend."
