Hubbard Doubles Twice Before the Break

On fourth street, Stephen Hubbard was all in and had been called by Sebastian Pauli. On the end, Hubbard was drawing live as Pauli drew a Qx to make a queen-seven. Hubbard then drew an 8x and stayed alive.

He was then all in against Oscar Johansson for around 220,000.

Jon Turner is on the shrinking list of "best players to have never won a bracelet." But the longtime poker pro had a shot to get off that list on Sunday at the 2026 World Series of Poker (WSOP).

The tournament grinder entered Day 3 in Event #40: $1,500 Razz with the chip lead among the final six players. It would be his 21st final table appearance in a bracelet event, and one of his best opportunities to win a bracelet.

Turner, a local pro in Las Vegas, was in great shape entering play, but in the swingy game of razz.

Short-stacked Stephen Hubbard was unlucky to bring in multiple times in a row as the short stack, including in this hand with a 6x showing. Both Sebastian Pauli and Oscar Johansson called.

"I'm not looking," said Hubbard, before he was dealt the Kx on fourth street. Pauli bet and Johansson folded. Hubbard went to check his cards, folding, showing he'd made trips with KxKx in the hole.

On fifth, it checked to Hubbard who bet again. Weiss called and Johansson folded.

Hubbard bet all-in for his final 195,000 on sixth to put himself at risk.

"No shame in folding," joked Hubbard as Weiss contemplated the decision.

"I don't think I can call," replied Weiss as he folded, conceding the pot to Hubbard who virtually doubled without showdown.

Hubbard then took the betting lead on fourth, but Pauli showed the lower board on fifth as he led.

Both sixth and seventh checked through. Hubbard announced a nine-seven-five, but it was no good as Pauli tabled Jx8x6x and his eight-seven was the winner as Hubbard gets down into the danger zone.
