Song Smacks the Flop to Leave Birnbaum on Crumbs
Level 36
: Blinds 300,000/600,000, 600,000 ante
Kevin Song raised to 1,750,000 from under the gun and Nancy Birnbaum three-bet to 3,500,000 from the cutoff. Song four-bet jammed for 13,550,000, and Birnbaum called with only a couple of big blinds more than Song.
Kevin Song: A♥J♥
Nancy Birnbaum: K♦K♣
Song had been the overwhelming chip leader with five players remaining, but now found himself on the brink of elimination.
Song found the perfect flop in the form of A♣J♠5♣, taking the lead and leaving Birnbaum with just two outs.
The rest of the board ran out safely for Song as the 4♠ and 9♠ completed the runout, earning him a huge double-up and leaving Birnbaum with just a few big blinds.
