Day 1 of Event #61: $1,000 Super Seniors saw 3,323 players buy in, but only 836 of them advanced to Day 2. With each entrant aged 60 or over and, therefore, being massively experienced, it was no surprise to see dozens of legendary players and bracelet winners navigate their way through 10 levels of play.

Kevin Song (192,500) will be delighted with his Day 1 performance because he accumulated enough chips to find himself within touching distance of the overnight leaders. The South Korean has almost $4.9 million in live earnings, including a $397,120 career-best score, which he collected after winning his one and only bracelet in the $2,000 Limit Hold'em event back in 1997.

According to the WSOP LIVE app, Antonio Gheller (321,000) leads from the front, followed by Merle Halcom (299,500), and Mark Ellerbe (274,000).
